Yahoo! has launched Messenger 9.0 version with Pingbox. It is a brand-new feature in Yahoo Messenger that lets bloggers/web site admins to have a real time chat with visitors. It is a simple flash widget script you can embed on your blog, MySpace page, etc.
Visitors to your site can use it to have an IM conversation with you directly, without the need for signing up or logging in.
Pingbox is very useful for site admins/bloggers, online sellers and social networking folks. Pingbox application connects your Yahoo Messenger application to interface with visitors and automatically shows up as a temporary contact on your buddy list for the duration of their stay on your site. This Pingbox lets visitors IM you anonymously (or they can identify themselves) without needing to download or even sign into Yahoo! Messenger. The good news is you’re anonymous too; visitors to your page never see your Yahoo! ID. Pingbox is great for giving your site/page/profile visitors a quick way to chat with you. Go ahead.. create your own custom Pingbox and add on your blog or profile!
Apart from Pingbox, Yahoo! messenger 9.0 has come up with a whole lot of new features like: New Skins, Return of the Original emoticons, Inline Video and picture viewer, Import contacts wizard, Yahoo! games are back (these were previously taken off) and many more!
I have already added the Y! Pingbox to my blog. Feel free to catch me directly from my blog whenever I am online.

To clarify… I was wrong. the messages just seem to notify me that there was a message, but arent shown! I can respond, the pingbox gets the responses. But Messenger wont show the messages. Odd

I sadly can’t get my head around this. I logged into my Yahoo mail account, and on my phone Messenger and the Pinbox said I was still offline. Only when I installed on my PC and logged in did Pingbox show me as online.
So then I tried to send a message. What seems to happen is that it shows me that someone is trying to get in touch and provides a link to open another Pingbox to chat. Why not just open an IM in messenger, that’s the whole point of messenger, right? Or am I missing something here?
To date, poor. But am happy to be told I’m using it wrong.

For me, this is one of the bestest features introduced by Yahoo!. It looks amazing on my site. And members love it. I really find it very convenient and fun to use.
I hope we see more features soon to integrate it further with a site so that logged in member’s username can automatically be filled in the “nickname” field.
Also this has a compatibility issue with Google Chrome which should be fixed asap.
Thank you
