Tata Indica Vista the new variant of Indica from Tata Motors. The new model has evolved nicely since initial version of Indica to Xeta and now to Vista. Pick up any news paper, one gets to notice the ads of this new car almost everyday. Interiors have been focussed more on those ads as well as all new look and the stylish features. I visited the Concorde Motors near Dairy circle in Bangalore last week to take a look at this car and test drive the same. Since I reached the premises around 6:30pm, I couldn’t manage to test drive the car. However, I had a good glance at the demo vehicle.
There are A slight central mid ridge on the bonnet is intended to give a V-shaped front but it resembles the styling of palio a product of Tata’s partner Fiat. Upon opening the bonnet you get to see the Fiat’s popular 1.3L multi jet engine name ‘Quadrajet’. The same engine is in Swift too with the name of DDiS. The c510 gearbox is also sourced from Fiat. But when the indica’s comfort and convenience combines with Fiat’s technology it could be lethal weapon against the likes of swift and i10. There are two other variants of this car apart from Quadrajet, one is Indica Vista TDI and the other being Indica Vista Safire. While Quadrajet(1.3L) and TDI(1.4L) are diesel engines while the Safire(1.2L) is a petrol engine. All these variants are available in 7 colors.
Sales person over there mentioned that the mileage of the Indica vista in city is around 16kmpl and in highway it goes up to 20kmpl for Quadrajet. Absence of ABS and Airbags in the Indica vista lets down the safety features of this car. The quality, comfort and convenience the Indica vista provides are pretty commendable. The boot space at the back and leg space for the back seats is very good compared to other models in the B+ category cars. There is a glove box that can hold even a laptop, under deck space to hold water bottles, cubby holes, wide door pockets and 60:40 foldable rear seats can give you the most comfortable journey that even a class above fails to offer. The front bucket seats are comfy, swaparound at some place to offer support ot every parts of your body. The driver seat is height adjustable. This car seem to be good value for money except that you wont get ABS and airbags when compared to Muruthi Swift. Here is the Ex-showroom price for various Tata India Vista variants in Bangalore as on 5th Sep 2008:

there is an serial number punched at the bottom of “B” pillar at driver side, you can find all the details of manufacture from that.

hi
i want indica second hand car in good condition.
jayadev says
changed stock tyres from 165/70 to 195/65 continental…..and everything changed… good breaking good steering feel now…better control over body rolls and road grips
added additional fire proof foam
1.under the bonette
2. all around the engine bay (i donno wats the tech term)
3.inside the doors
4.under the foot carpet
5.inside/under the roof (again i donno wats the tech term)
as compared to earlier truck like sound now the interior noise is just a hum or you just only feel something like engine is revving.
music system is of below average quality but its alright for radio stations but added an additional subwoofer to get that missing low frequency thumps.
deciding to do some chromium /nickel lining on doos and stream lines…
this car is gr8 for long driving i never felt tired ,but not so easy going with those who needs adrinalin punches.. i do miss a lot of powerful pickups and accurate rides…smthing you can find in punto..!!!
but i started loving it very much after little bit of additional modifications ..comparitively feels like i am attending a yoga class ‘lol’ or something like that it became super smooth.
a great family car…
raka says
Ever noticed the rust on the the unpainted body steel structure under the dashboard of Indica Vista, Indica Manza. Tata’s have left the area untreated and unpainted and it begins to rust within a year of manufacture.
Good for cost cutting – too bad for customer.
Happy discovering under the dash board !!
Mohan says
Ah!… I never noticed that!
P.Salelkar says
My Indica Vista Aura Safire has given excellent overall performance. Spacious enough for a family of four adults & gives a mileage of 12 km/l on city roads and15.5km/l on highways. The ride is smooth & no engine noise inside the cabin. The clutch pedal is quite light & smooth. Initially the gears were a little hard , but after running about 700kms ,the gear shifting became smooth. So far hv driven about 11000kms in last one year. Better than SWIFT for city driving especially bumpy roads . The rear seats of SWift are like a cramped prison cell with a small window . The VISTA is the best family car with its fully loaded feature such as tilt adjustable steering wheel, height adjusatable driver’s seat, adjustable lumbar support for driver’s seat, foldable rear seat, 2 DIN integrated music system, front/rear fog lamps/ rear de-mister, rear wiper & engine immobiliser ! The added plus is that TATA service has been quite satisfactory.
soumya says
May be you are a bit too blown with your vista but here is a much needed eye opener for people like you who kind of compare apples with oranges !!!
1) Swift is a enthusiasts car and features in many countries as a racing hatch. Indica was and still is a passenger’s car with just the name modified to vista and some more Hp’s under the hood but still matchless to the MAD power, drivabilty and control of the Hatch’s King Swift.
2) Swift was made for a beginner enthusiast but can still manage a mid-sized family with no cramping in the rear seats, provided you sit 3 people and not the whole family(I don’t remember if it was ever compared to an aeroplane)…!
3) With all the features that you have listed here, you probably have forgot to add Steering-mounted audio controls and mod-friendly features along with resale value and maintainance cost…Or may be you did’nt get them inside the VISTA ;-)!!!
4) Last but not the least go to a reputed disco/hotel with lots of beautiful chicks wanting for lift…and park Indca vista car alongside a Swift ZXI and count the girls missing Vista and walking straight for Swift. BTW IF YOU EVER WANT A RACE TO FIND OUT WHO RULES THE ROADS THEN JUST CHALLENGE ANY SWIFT DRIVER AND YOU WILL BE SMOKED OUT IN SECONDS – DON’T BELIEVE ME THEN BETTER DARE IT !!
Syed says
You are good at inflated story writings.Better luck
Sandeep says
brilliantly said brother
baskar says
You can write story but dont review a car with your idea…….
Swaroop says
@ Soumya: Let me ask you one thing. Do you know driving? Do you know both swift and vista has same diesel engine and both have almost equal power? Those girls coming to reputed disco may not be waiting for a swift or vista lift, they will be having their own cars or boy friend’s car. So don’t worry about it and all are not buying cars to give lift to for chicks or to race. 🙂
There will be +ve and -ve’s when we compare cars.

Have anyone seen the new Vista Drivetech4′ commercial on youtube?? Brilliant! It will get you laughing every time you watch it.

i want to know the details of vista saphire petrol model. plz give the advantages and disadvantages. the car has been sold in a few in my town calicut, kerala. no advertisement in papers also comparing to diesel models. this model will last or not? wht abt mileage.
Vinod says
I am using vista saphire since last year. It is true, that the petrol cars are not commonly being purchased due to fuel cost. That is only fact. It is worth to buy if you are ready to spent more on fuel. The mileage was initially 12.6. It turned 15 after 3000 km. Still there are some people preferring the petrol model & saphire is fiat engine.
jayadev says
i read about it in a magazine “autocar” but do not go out and ruin 100 bucks for the mag .it stated the 68 bhp for vista reason they mentioned was something like “Tata has tuned it for bottom end drive ability and whack rather than top end performance.”
better reviews are much available in “team-bhp” web site
jayadev says
1001 percent agree to mr.GAURAV ANAND about vista and swift.
vista is for comfort ride…brilliant sunspension and handeling of pot holes and bumps.i never expected such a smooth rides on indian road in such a kind of CAR.
on other hand swift and other similar ones are more of sporty.with boost on speed and power (but incidently swift owners are claimimg better fuel efficiency , compared to vista but there are some technical and positive reasons from tata people for that like wider tyres and much heavier than rest)
INTERIOR FIT AND FINISH is very crude and basic .
i think tata played the kanjoos part to keep the prices low- in this section.
remaining- engine ,bodybuild and anything else are identical to swift or any others of same category
i am talking about what i own- quadraet aura (diesal) and i love it thanks to tata!!!.
ps:-i just read a review abt VISTA Aura+ (PETROL) recently and perfomance wise i realised it is a disaster car compared to swift petrol.
nite patrol says
is that so? where s the link for the review which you read.. can u pls share?

I want to buy a hatchback car in petrol version, please suggest me, my range is 4 to 4.25 lakh. however my choice is Swift and Tata Indica Vista. Please tell which is the best. I want specious car.
Murtaza says
Hi
Go for Vista as it is much spacious as compared to swift. Vista is smooth spacious and very comfortable. But it is a bit behind swift if u compare power. Mileage is almost similar. If u r interested in long drives, vista is much ahead. Best way to decide is take a test drive.
nite patrol says
what abt the electronic power steering part of swift and the big gear throw of Indica Vista?
wont that come into picture.
and how does vista handle high speeds?
coz I ve seen people driving swift easily at 120kmph,
but never seen vista saffire being driven at that speed. (apart from quadrajet here and there, that too only 90kmphs).
Disclaimer: my highway driving experience has been considered for the above opinion. No harm meant to any one btw..
GAURAV ANAND says
I have 3 cars. Two vista petrol & one swift petrol. My + & _ for both is as under:-
Vista: Lot of setting space, excellent AC, Beautiful suspensions, clutch pedal is very light. Very stable. Very good sitting position. I have driven this car for 14 hrs continuously from Delhi to Jammu. No fatigue. Speed no problem. Depends on one’s driving habbit. Gears too are compareable to swift.
Negative: Fit & finish. Power stearing compared to swift is bit heavy.
Swift: Better fit & finish. More power in the engine being 1.3 ltr. Stearing is lighter.Better resale value.
It rattles a lot more comapred to vista on bad roads.
For long drives definately vista is much better. It is also value for money. This my experience & my opinion. No harm meant to any body.Of late TATA’s service too has improved a lot.
santhosh says
Hi , right nw i m useing Tata vista, its amizing to drive! Before vista i have swift,bt its nt good as vista. So better i sugest u must go to vista.
PL Prajapati says
I want to buy Indica vista only but i am confuse that should i buy petrol version or deasel version, monthly running is max. 300 km. Please suggest me.
Gaurav Anand says
Pls buy petrol. I have two of them. Very satisfied with the performance of the vehicles. With this running diesel is not justified. You would end up paying 1 lakh extra.
Murtaza says
Go for petrol if your running is only 300. You will save lot of money. My running is around 200 and Iam pretty satisfied with petrol version.

sorry to add… but aren’t the saffire vista and tdi vista price range close enough? correct me if I am wrong..

i own vista aura quadrajet since 6 months travelled 6000kms…comfort level is something heavenly in this segment. this one was appreciated very much better by my friends who own swift and swift dzire ,they said both swift nd dzire is very flimsy but vista is more relaxed and comfortable.
in the long rides i dont get tired anymore as i used to when i travelled in indica v2 or maruthi zen.
earlier i used to feel discontent for not having safety features but now i feel
best made for india where i cant drive more than 70kmph,( once i had to pay penalty of rs.500 for over speeding camera showed 99.2kmph)
so need not think about abs or airbags anymore .
but plastic fit and finish in the interiors are still the most disgusting ..i am still cautious to operate the viperstalks and other switches ..they may fall apart any moment….but they are intact untill now….!!!!
sandeep says
Hi Jayadev,
I own a Indica Vista Terra TDI. 3k in 6 months.
All my relatives own vehicles from Maruti, 800, alto, wagon R etc, etc.
Now when they see Vista, they now think, apart from Maruti Service and resale value, there are loads of things, like driver and passenger comfort as well.
sandeep says
And yes I have driven 550 kms in a single day and next day I have been to office. No question of being tired.. no way.. nor any question of getting bored while driving.
Raghav says
Totally agree with that …. I have a Vista too and people are now feeling jealous of me, especialy my friends who bought other small cars alto and astar. hehe .. And yeah Tata has launched a new contest, saw it in the papers today. They are giving a Vista for free!! check this www. surpriseyourself.in

Am I dreaming ??

@Satya,
i drive less than 150 kms a month, still I have diesel vista. what say?
satya says
Vista is quite big and spacious. It may be very useful if you are considering lot of time spending in it, long drive and usage of >700 km per month. Considering your usage and mileage , I think Astar is very good. You can look for Beat as well. This also looks very nice.
Radhakrishnan says
Hi,
I am thinking of changing my 10 year old maruti 800 for new generation hatchback. I am considering Astar vxi (sorry not Alto) OR i10 Magna OR Vista Or Beat. My monthly usage is less than 300 kms and most of the times I have only one co passenger (my better half!) Can somebody suggest a reliable car with fuel efficiency and feature rich
satya says
Here is the Indica/Marina/ Indigo coding:
I have picked this from Tata Indica Users Group. Due credits to Mr. Achin Juneja, the guru on Tata cars..Very useful info.
The post:
Chassis Number :
A typical chassis no. is — 600132CTZP78900.
The first 6 characters are the model code — in this case, Indica DLE.
The 7th character — ‘C’ in this example — represents the month of
manufacture, according to the foll. table :
A — Jan.
B — Feb.
C — Mar.
D — Apr.
E — May.
F — Jun.
G — Jul.
H — Aug.
J — Sep.
K — Oct.
L — Nov.
M — Dec.
Pls note that ‘ I ‘ is not used.
The 8th & 9th characters together represent the year of manufacture,
according to the foll. table :
Z — 0
Y — 1
X — 2
W — 3
V — 4
U — 5
T — 6
S — 7
R — 8
Q — 9
P — 10
and so on.
In our example, the 8th & 9th characters are ‘ T Z ‘. Reversing the order
makes it ‘ Z T ‘.
As per the table, this converts to ‘ 0 6 ‘, or the year 20 06, the ‘ 20 ‘
being assumed.
The 10th character represents the Plant location, with ‘ P ‘ for ‘ Pune ‘.
The last 5 numbers comprise the Serial No. of the chassis.
So, our example no., 600132CTZP78900, means the model is Indica DLE,
manufactured in March, 2006, at Pune, having chassis serial no. ‘ 78900 ‘.
Engine Number :
A typical engine no. is : 475IDI__03 CTZP12345.
The first 6 to 8 character group represents the engine type, as per foll.
table :
475IDI — Non turbo diesel.
475IDI TC — Turbocharged Diesel.
475MPFI — Petrol MPFI.
The next 2 digit number represents the emission norms as per the foll. table
:
05 — BS-2 from Jan 2005 onwards.
03 — BS-3.
The remaining 9 characters represent the month, year of mfr., Plant, &
serial no. of engine, as per the chassis no. tables.
So an engine no. of 475IDI 03 CTZP 12345 will be a non-turbo diesel engine,
conforming to BS-3, manufactured in March, 2006, at Pune, & having serial
no. 12345.

Consider MA3EKE41SOO123456-D9 as chasis number of the Swift and just decode as below
MA3 – Corresponds to Manufacturer
EKE41- Corresponds to the variant
S00 – Indicates type of car
123456- Last six digits indicate unique serial numbers/Chasis ID.
D9- April 2009
**Months (Jan-Dec) are denoted by A to M (i is silent) .
OT:: Just note down this while pre-registartion checkup and cross check during the pre-delivery inspection.

i am using terra quadrajet since 2 months. it’s a very good vehiclr with excellent performance and fuel efficiency. terra being the basic version, it has got ac and power steering. which i found sufficient. top models comes with fog lamp, power windows fancy stuffs. so you can decide which one is appropriate for you. Dear All
I wish all Merry Christmas and great New year 2011 !
I bought Fiat Palio 2 months back as a weekend cum learning car, since its my first car.
I drove around 5000 kms in 2 months.
2 long drives, and daily to office.
Sold it since started liking driving daily and learnt driving in city as well as highway.
Now i wanted a car Value for Money !
I did take test drive of RITZ diesel,Swift Diesel,Figo D,Vista Aura,
I did like the view of road in Swift,Figo and Vista.
Liked the interiors of All 4 cars
I felt more comfortable in Vista may be because I am driving Palio for 2 moths !
Only thing I observed is we can drive little slow in Vista in 3rd gear also, and it picks up faster from 10 to 40 quickly.
Yes I never liked Indica since it is used as Taxi,But one can not dispute that its Value for money.
Finally I booked Vista Aura fully loaded with ABS for 6.38 lacs at Prerana Motors Lalbagh Road as they seem to be more caring for your expectations, and may be their bosses sit above in the same office.
mitesh says
i am planning to buy Vista Aura saffire(petrol)next week.i travel around 700-750km/month.i am little confused about mileage of saffire engine.10-18km is wide range.will it be safe bet to buy tata petrol?
Pls give suggestion.
Dr Murtaza says
hi Mitesh, Vista is equiped with Fiat engine which is internationally acclaimed for fuel efficiency and smoothness. Vista is far ahead of other petrol Indicas. Iam getting mileage of around 12 Km/L in Bangalore city with most of the time AC on. On highway they claim around 17. My running is not much so I settled for Vista petrol as it gives not very great but descent mileage. It is only a bit less than SWIFT and RITZ. But if your priority is mileage and your budget is healthy than better to go for Diesel for which u will have to shell 80,000 more. So choice is yours.
mitesh says
Thanks for the suggestion.I am also from bangalore & checked up with Prerana motors.what about re-sale value for Tata petrol car?
Dr Murtaza says
hi, re-sale value is going to be less than diesel version. I did not bother about it as Iam not going to sell the car in near future. And if i decide than Iam sure atleast TATA will offer me a good offer for the exchange.
Gaurav Anand says
iNDICA VISTA Safire is a good car. I have 2 of them. I am a very satisfied customer. Average varies according to driving conditions. My car in Ghaziabad gives 10 with AC. Same car when it goes to Noida gives 14 & on highway it gives 17.74.
All the cars these days come with high tech engines. You should look at which car suits your requirement & then decide. With traffic increasing AV would decline with passage of time.
As far as resale is concerned, why bother what will happen few yr’s from now. If you pay less for a car initially accordingly you will get less at the time of resale.
I think you should concentrate on enjoying your new vehicle. Everything sells. It would make little difference.
regards
Gaurav Anand.
Murtaza says
Hi
Iam driving my vista saffire aura for past 2 months. Its amazing in terms of space and comfort. Petrol is giving descent average of 12 to 13 in city. The only cons I found is that the vehicle is a bit heavy for the power fiat engine offers, though its adequate but a bit more and it truly had been fabulous.
Truly a value for money car

Hi all,
I bought Quadrajet Aura about 6 months back. Apart from some initial concerns with the AC (which were later addressed after a lot of to and fro), I was happy about it.
However, from last month or so, the engine noise has picked up and is quite upsetting for someone like me, who likes to drive within the restraints of gear-speed ratio.
My car has clocked around 12K km in 6 months, and has first 3 services cplt on time.
Has someone else encountered this problem, or does someone know what to do?
Thanks!!
Kumar says
I have a Indica Vista Tdi from past one month, my monthly running is Gearshift not buttery, I have driven Maruti 800 and Santro, gear shifts are very smooth. Its a cause of concern for my parents, they told me to go for Quadrajet Diesel, since the sales person told that its bit hard in front of them. I wish he had not told them .. hehehe. But I still went for Tdi.
> Steering wheel is a bit heavy. The showroom person told me its more smooth in Quadrajet, I told him, i ve heard abt engine and gearbox being different, how come steering became smooth, he gave some answer, which I could not understand.
> Car being sluggish, well, i am not here for a race, Tdi is faster when I want it to be fast and is slower when I want it to be slow. Its not that sluggish guys, I am full praise for the desi engine.
I still do not mind all of these things. Tdi is a superb vehicle very well behaved. No vibrations on the inside at all. I drive with windows down. No sound after 3rd gear. First two gears, manageable sound not that much, but lil bit more than DLS(NA).
Here is a look at the pros of Tdi engine.
> Tdi engine is a very respected engine among road side mechanics. I have spoken to lot of cabbies. I even have contact with a road side mechanic. I told him, my car is giving 13-14kms without AC in city during the 1st month. He said, go and complain in the showroom since that car is supposed to give 17kms. A lot of cabbies and even the mechanic told me DLS (NA) mileage touches 22kms within city with all the thrashing.
> Super car for rough use, as told by a cabbie. He infact praised Turbo engine is better than DLS (NA) apart from 2kms lesser mileage.
> its a fulli desi car. You can proudly say Mera Bharath Mahaan.
And yes regarding monthly running, important point.
I told the mechanic, I ve to start the car daily else there might be battery discharge. He started laughing and showed me a car parked in his garage and said, this diesel has not been started for overa month, still it shall start with teh first crank itself. Forget about the monthly running, its only about, the additional investment initially and the oil change + for toups every 6k kms.
Thats it.
Cheers
Kumar says
My monthly running is less than 100kms. Its always parked in my house. hehehe

After a long search and comparisons between Maruti Swift and Indica Vista, I am decided to buy Vista Aura, bcoz its stylish interiors and smart look and performance, may be the performance of swift is better ,but its interior is very poor, and small leg space for back seats. So comparatively VISTA will be the best and economical, its cost upto 1 lakh lesser than swift
subrata roy says
well if u want to keep the vehicle for more than 5 years than its ok but if u want to sell ur car within 3 -4 years than its bad because tata’s are known for diesel vehicles and not petrol vehicles. so no resale value please. you can go for vista quadrajet its really a best offering from the tata’s. so think once again before buying the vehicle.
DieselFan says
Hello All,
I have brought a Tdi and I am absolutely happy with the vehicle.
Gear shift is not as smooth as other petrol variants / other cars, but who wants it to be buttery.
Many people had adviced me to buy Safire petrol or Indica V2 petrol (monthly running < 150kms) but I went in for Tdi.
Partha says
Hello Satya,
After first service I am getting average 12 kmpl (with AC). The AC is very nice too (luckily my car doesnot have insufficient AC problem). Mostly I have driven in the nearby localities where frequent gear shifting, breaking is a necessity. Regarding the car performance, I am fully agree with Mr. Anand. I am very happy and satisfied with the car.
But selling your old TATA petrol car may be difficult for you in future. Hence think twice.
Good bye.
Partha.
Partha says
Dear Satya,
I am from Chennai and using Indica Vista Safire (terra) for last 4 months. I have driven 1600 kms till date. My experiences are:
1. The engine is very good & getting better day by day.
2. The gear shifting is stiff & precise but now I am getting used to it.
3. The car body is rugged & well made except inner plastics.
4. Fit & finish of the car is good but not so good as Hyundai.
5. You will feel safe & comfortable sitting inside the car. Better than any car in the same price range.
6. I feel for the price you pay for the car, it is the most value for money car.
Drawbacks:
1. It is a huge car. For Chennai & Bangalore traffic Hyundai I10/Santro is a far better car to drive.
2. Hyundai cars will give you much better resale value.
3. I will suggest you to go for Indica Vista Quadrajet Diesel if you can afford.
Good luck for your purchase.
Bye.
Satya says
Thanks Partha for this reseponse. What’s the mileage you are getting?
I will be keeping this car for 4 yrs , so thought of not going for Quadrajet.

Gaurav Anand says
It is a good choice. I have two cars in the family. Both Safire. Excellent in terms of sitting comfort, long drives, road grip, safety, value for money. Milage ranges between 10 to 18 kms depending on driving conditions.
My both the cars have clocked appox 6000 & 8000 kms respectively.

Nice reviews. Please advise which car to go for between tdi and quadrajet among the diesel vista? What is the actual mileage of tdi vista in city conditions?
Mohan says
One of my blog reader had sent a reply to my mail on your query. This is what Subrata Roy had to say – “Generally in diesel vista you can go for quadrajet version and in tdi the mileage would be around 17-18 km/l in normal city condition. Well I would like to add that mileage depends on driving conditions also.”

Indica vista comes in 9 colors now as against the initial 7 colors when the car was launched. Not sure if they are going to release new colors now.

I went for an Indica Vista Demo today. The car was top end one. I felt somewhat ok, since I do not have a huge budget. But my friend being a seasoned driver felt very disappointed. The inside space was not all that great. May be we are too broad or fat. I do not knw. but I still felt cramped.
I had plans of buying a Indica Vista Tdi, now I am rethinking for a used Bolero.

hi,
i m also booked an indica vista aqua TDI last week. colour-solar orange…
the on road price of this model in jamshedpur is 3.33 lacs(no discount).but i could get approx Rs.21000 discount on that, because i m an employee of tata construction equipment company.
so, that’s also a reason to select a tata car for tata corporates.
one thing i noticed during test drive of indica vista ,the engine noise of TDI engine is same as old indica…but this is not enough to deselect this car.
but other things about this car is so good i.e. price, milage, comfort, outer look, intiriors, etc…
so, i thougth indica vista is a very good car and a value for money car….
.

hi.. 3.33 lakhs on road?
I thought the DLS itself costed 3.6 ex-showroom.
pls correct me if i am wrong.

Dear members,
Last week I booked indica vista aura quadrajet. I selected cavern grey colour. The on road price is 5.12 lacs in Chennai (include free insurance and corp discount 4K). I could just get remote central lock, fabric seat cover and sun film as free accessories. Do you think this to a good deal ? should i bargain on something. the dealer says that this is his maximum discount.
Please suggest………

Hi,
Im planning to book Indica Vista Aura Saffire (red color) next Sunday. I have opted for “Prerana Motors” in Sarjapur Road. I have few questions on the same
1. Do u have any idea of the dealer I selected? are they good?
2.What all accessories should I buy for this version?
3.What all accessories should I ask the dealer free of cost?
4. What color seat cover shoudl I go for considering red colout of the car?
Cheers,
Satish
Ankit Pandey says
1. I’ve no idea about the dealer.
2.minimum accessories required: Seat Covers, Floor Mat, Remote Entry (optional)
3. You should ask dealer for remote entry.
4. Any contrasting two tone color would look nice.

Hello All,
I am a first time car buyer, I have now started with driving classes. I have always loved driving a diesel vehicle. I am planning to buy an Indica Vista Terra Tdi soon I get a license to drive. I wish to know what is the mileage, I assume 15 is possible with this awesome diesel.
One more thing which I noticed while driving a diesel Indica DLS. It may be very slow, sluggish, without a turbo, but its definitely an awesome vehicle to drive, I drove a Santro too, But by all means I loved the Indica, No second thoughts on the Tdi engine. I wish I had a DI engine with still more noise and vibrations, coz I feel the Noise and vibrations are almost nil in an Indica

All in all its a very great package, which is really underrated.

Hi Gaurav,
Nice reviews throughout. I am planning to buy Vista safire aura this month. The actual on road price is 4.38 L in Chennai, but I get free insurance this month and corp discount of 4 K. I think that I can finish the deal for 4.2 L with some free accessories..What is your car colour. ? I am not very impressed with Vista colours. My opinion is that Tata paint loses its beauty/shine in few months/years..

Hi Vijay,
I have two vista’s. Their colours are: Marine silver & Silver. I am a fan of white colour. Unfortunately when I bought the cars white was not available in Safire. Now it is available.

Hi all
I test drove vista saffire and swift petrol.
When i swich on AC in both the cars, vista saffire’s pick up goes down – you feel a sort of ‘jhatka’ . Nothing of this sort happens in Swift. Please share your experiences regarding this as I want to finalize between these two petrol cars. Myself and family loves the vista – although friends say it looks like taxi and Maruti is a name to count upon in the long run. Are spares – maintenance in TATA costlier than Maruti?
Yash
Pavan says
Hi Yesh,
I own a Vista Saffire and drive it through the city with AC on. I did not fine that “jhatka” observation in my vehicle.
Spares and maitenance both TATA and Maruti are known to be very competitive. Not much of difference on that front.
The statement of your friends “looks like taxi” …. I really don’t agree. It is just some kind of ‘psuedo satisfaction’ guys derive for spending 50 – 80 thousand for no extra features in their car.
Why Indica became Taxi is because of it’s sturdiness. It runs perfectly fine even after 10 yrs of abuse by the people. It’s operations are easy to understand hence it became famous with masses. It is easy to fiddle around and repair the vehicle without running to show-room always.
I have great reagard for Swift – not doubt it’s great vehicle. If you dont’ mind the extra money of 80 thousand and that too get lesser features you can consider it. Also one thing I should bring to your notice is the rear passenger comfort in Swift. I really felt Swift scores less when it comes to rear passenger comfort and the features.
I would advise go after the “Value of the Car” and buy it for yourself not for our friends sake. After all you are not going to use it as Taxi right 😉
I agree with a guy who mentioned that , “Vista is a sedan hatchback”
Thanks
Pavan

I have both swift & vista safire. Safire is any day better. No jurk.May be the car you test drove was not properly tuned.Pls note, Vista is banned in Taxi. It is not being supplied for commercial purpose.
Secondly Vista is lot more safer. I recently met with an accident. It is because of vista that I did not get injured. It is a very strong & safe vehicle.
jay says
saffire would probably slow down as its only 65bhp compared to swift 81 bhp.
swift petrol is almost a sports car ,vista saffire is wonderful family car,for sedative and sober driving. ..low noise and excellent comfort.
