SunDirect DTH services are provided by Sun Network. I got SunDirect installed on June 1st of 2008 and my experience with them has been good so far. The installation guy was very friendly and came promptly at a previously agreed time. He had all the equipment to set up the receiver dish on my roof top and got it erected in no time. He gave a detailed info on the service, Dos and Dont’s etc., Also, we were given information on the technology, customer support info, activation method, recharge options and much more.
Sun Direct uses the latest MPEG-4 based technology to increase broadcast capacity. Where as the other DTH providers in India like TataSky and DishTV are currently using MPEG-2 technology. SunDirect picture and sound clarity is certainly better than the other players in this market.
Now, let me write about the channel options and pricing. SunDirect costed me Rs 1999/- which includes Installation and activation charges as well as 1 year subscription for their Freedom package. In this package you can select any one of the regional languages as your basic pack. This pack comes with approximately about 80+ channels including all major south indian linguistic channels along with few limited Hindi and news channels. SunDirect basic package also includes a good number of radio stations operated by Sun FM and AIR. SunDirect’s pricing is comparitively less. A couple of days back, they have introduced many sub packs for movies, kids entertainment, regional language top ups etc., Thats a good sign for customers. There are few more good things about SunDirect, there is no dependency of using a given smart card on any other Sun DTH STB. This is not the case with other players as on date.
Now coming to the drawbacks, the major miss is wrt sports channels like Star and ESPN, BBC. Not sure when they are going to bring those channels into their packages. I would look forward for individual channels pricing instead of getting them in a package. This option provides user with full freedom of paying for only those channels which they opt to view. SunDirects Customer call centre isn’t that great either. They were struggling to provide information when I called them. May be it needs a bit of improvement as it is the early days of their evolution. Reliance’s BigTV DTH service launch is just round the corner. This will bring in a healthy competition among DTH players in the market and customer would be the beneficiary at the end of the day.

Sun Direct has told me not to reset the STB. Because they will be resetting the dish location after they move channels to Asiasat or another one. I feel, that you do not play with your STB. The info channel is showing a message that channels will come back shortly.

There is no way to get channels to factory reseted coship and samsung set top boxes. In case of E-32 in samsung boxes please select 452 AXN channel for five minutes.Then swich off set top box then on u will get main channels.Do not reset your samsung and coship set top boxes.
In SN9000IR models-firstly press menu button then go to factory reset option press ok set top box will rebot then showing nothing to update.Close all then go to auto scanning after a moment u will get channels’

Sundirect will change it’s satellite soon. They have two choices one is measat-3 located in 91.5 deg east which is already transmiting sun HD channels. The second choice is asiasat 5 @ 100.5 deg east.
They will continue their service through insat 4B also. After complete their dish relocation process they stop their service through insat 4B.
Now all channels are free of cost.

factory default already done by the customer showing errors E48 or E 52(Homecast,Coship,Opentech,Samsung) keep in either channel number 623 or 452, idealy on LCN623 the channel aired will retrive quickly in seconds. They shall come back to you on Samsung stbs

Well said Anna. All other DTH providers judiciously did not select INSAT. The Asian space superpower cannot say when this will be rectified. Based on our scientist’s expertise, I think it might take at least 1 week to 3 weeks. So, Sun DTH has no alternative to switch to another satellite.
Sun DTH should realise that they cannot run a DTH service just like Deal or No Deal. My payment will end this month. I will not renew. Thats sure.

Adjusting dish position is not a easy task. More over after 1 month if Asiasat transponders might also not function then at that time their will be a need for changing the dish position again and the process can repeat any number of times .why the same problem is not happening to other DTH services. That is SUN DTH ( Ton Tona Ton ) .

They have not informed the customers either through their website or an sms that there is a disruption in their service. Their call centre numbers were not responding throughout Thursday. They are refusing to accept cancellation/deactivation requests.
This clearly is a “deficiency of service” and can be challenged.

Sue what? they have clear Terms & Conditions duly signed by each of us with a mention that they have all rights to change/withdraw channels without any notice to customers. There is no way we can really question taking the above mentioned point into consideration.

I purchased a SUN DTH from VSV Enterprises, Purasawakam (Contact details Joy – 98400 04302) on 08-10-2009. They also gave me a service #s 044-42176174 / 90030 22422. I paid Rs. 2315 (Rs.1250 for set top box+ Rs.990 for yearly subscription+Rs.75 for extra cable).
Now my service connection is cut after 6 months time while I have paid for a yearly subscription. I repeatedly complained to VSV enterprises and SUN DTH help line 39407575 on 6-5-10, 11-5-10, 13-5-10 and spoke to various people. They all did nothing but asked me to pay additionaly. When enquired about the yearly ubscription that I have paid, no one answered my query.
Since the service is so bad and no one is answering responsibly, I dont know what to do. I will not recommend anyone to buy SUN DTH
