My passport validity was about to expire in a couple of months and I was thinking of renewing it sometime soon. Very recently got to know about ‘Passport Seva Kendra’ (PSK) through a friend and decided to use this newly launched facility to renew my passport. All the information was available on their website about the documents, process, fee structure etc., It was indeed a very smooth option to fill out all the form detail online as well as submitting the same through their website. Also, there was an option to schedule the appointment with passport issuing authority online!
To be doubly sure, I called up their toll free helpline 1800-258-1800 to ensure I have the right set of documents and the process followed is correct. Since there was no change in address, I just had to drop in personally at PSK at a pre-scheduled time with current passport which is about to expire. Well, the other documents included the appointment acknowledgement print out and 2 self attested photo copies from the current passport.
I was told explicitly that there is no need to carry photographs as they have set up a digital imaging system to capture photo there itself while processing the form. Also, I was told that the fee for reissue of passport can be paid at the processing counter. All is well until this point.
Rest of the story as it unfolded made me realize the famous saying – “if everything goes smooth without any hurdles, surely you are in wrong lane”. Well, I had the appointment between 1:30pm – 2:15pm at Passport Seva Kendra, Lalbagh road, Bangalore. Reached the premises and got inside the building at 1:00pm upon showing the acknowledgment print out of the appointment. Had to stand in the queue here too to get a token for visiting processing, verification and issual counters. The queue wasn’t moving at all. After an hour one of the official came out and said the servers are down and it may take a while. Later on got to know that the servers were down since 11:30am! Thanks to Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) who have partnered with ministry of external affairs, India to empower the IT systems/infrastructure and to maintain these PSK kiosks.
Again at 2:30pm, one elderly official came to announce that they will switch over to manual mode of passport processing since the servers haven’t been restored and they are not in a position to retrieve the forms that applicants had submitted online. They decided to process those who had filled in forms in hand which weren’t submitted online. Online applicants were told to BUY form (which costs Rs. 10/-) and fill it up, ensure to have passport size photos, then head over to processing counters to get the work done. A fool in me, relying too much on computers had gone there without photos. I had 2 options : Either get the photos and fill up the form all over again manually or visit again some other day hoping to be lucky by then. Since there was a huge crowd and had to attend to work decided for the latter option.
So, this is what I learnt from todays experience:
1. Don’t rely on computer systems at government offices YET!
2. Always carry photographs no matter what whenever you need to fill a form related to govt offices.
3. Carry a pen in the pocket whenever you are out (my parents still shout at me for not complying to this since my college days, there is a bigger story on why don’t like to keep one… may be sometime later!)
4. Expect not to get the work done through govt offices as per the schedule.

The people are picking up the phone and hanging it up, why do they have these idiots working there if they can’t provide answers for people who are applying for a service.

you need to be physically present at the Passport Seva Kendra under new system to avail services, after applying for PCC online you need to be present at the PSK. The site passportindia.gov.in is legitimate.

Yes you can apply for your passport in mumbai, you just need to provide address proof for your current address, if you have changed your address more than once in 1 year, you need to submit proof for all of them. You can also apply in tatkal if you need it urgently.

I think the police station of your area has still not gone online, because the request for verification reaches them on the second or third working day itself. If not online everything is done by post. You should contact the police station of your area, if it has gone online you should ask them to upload the relevant data on the portal website. Once you confirm that this has been done, you can expect your passport in about 3 weeks. Mostly the status is updated but in some cases it is not, so you should check first with the police station and if they have already cleared your file then you should check at the RPO.

Generally the police verification is done in 7-10 working days. Once the clear PV report reaches the regional passport office, you can expect your passport in 3 weeks from that date. The whole process is going to consume approximately 45 days, but can take less as the agencies are striving to improve their performances.

After 2 days when checked status , it showed “your passport application has been granted to applicant on 28/2/2012 .you would receive an sms /email once passport is dispatched” But when i again rechecked the status after a week status was show granted date as 7/3/12 instead of 28/2/12. It is same here for me. I applied on 29/2/2012. THe status was showing the granted date as 29/2/2012 till 10th of March. Later the status got changed with same message with a different granted date as 8/2/2012 instead od 29/2/2012. Today the status is mentioned as “Passport application has been granted and Police Verification Report has been submitted. You would receive an email/sms once the passport is dispatched.” But in my acknowledgement copy it was mentioned the police verification type as Post verification, also no one called me or visited for verification. The call center is of no use, we need to visit the Passport office in Koramangala to get the exact status. Let me know if you have an update.

The whole process is going to take upto 45 days, you should wait for sometime say 2 weeks then only you need to take some action. Sometimes due to technical errors the status is not updated. My friend got his passport while his application status till date is showing as “Police Verification (PV) has been initiated and a PV request has been sent to Commissioner Office, District Gurgaon . Your passport will be dispatched after Clear Police Verification Report is received at Regional Passport Office. You would receive an email/sms once the passport is dispatched.” so wait for sometime.

I applied for renewal of my expiring passport in Gurgaon PSK on Nov 21, 2011. The police verification happened in first half of January 2012. I had changed my address in last one year and accordingly submitted proofs of both addresses (rent agreements, SBI passbooks with old and new addresses, marriage certificate with old address, etc.). The policeman started saying these proofs are not enough, even though the passbooks are acceptable as per my research. Finally he took 500 bucks and said he will manage. After waiting for two months, I got nervous and called that policeman. He said he had done the needful and asked me to check with the CID branch in Turkman Gate. When I finally went there, I was surprised to be told that my police verification report is adverse!! … They said that the adverse PV report has been submitted back to the RPO and that now, nothing can be done. I was aghast. I called up the policeman who did my verification and he said he had done the needful but there may be officers above him also who look at the documents. The CID guys said the PV was adverse because of short stay. They are not giving clear advice. One of them asked me to get the police verification initiated again.
Kindly advise what is the right way for going about now. Should I reinitiate the Police verification? If yes, what is the procedure?…and what should I do about the address proof (as there is a change in my address during last one year)? Will SBI passbook not be enough?
Kindly advise as I am really worried. My initial smooth experience at the PSK has been totally undone by this shocking behavior of the police folks!

Now since your file is under review at regional passport office, if they find the report adverse they are going to send a letter to you stating that the report has been found adverse and they will also inform you of the relevant procedure. Keep checking your status, it might also state the reason and solution.

First of all check your status at passportindia.gov.in with your File number & date of birth. If your police verification is clear and it has reached RPO then they are going to take approximately 10 days to dispatch your passport. The status if your PVR has reached RPO will be something like this : “Passport application has been granted and Police Verification Report has been submitted. You would receive an email/sms once the passport is dispatched”
But remember this will only happen if the report is clear.

I applied for a new passport for my 6 month old baby and we went to the Gurgaon Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) office on Feb 14, 2012. We were told that no police verification is required as my husband and I had valid passports. On the acknowledge receipt it was written that the application has been approved. Also, on the website the status reflected “The application has been approved and you will receive an email/sms when the passport is dispatched.” However, a couple of days ago the status on the website changed to “Passport application is under review at Regional Passport Office.”
My question is: How long will it take to get passport?

An application for my mother’s passport renewal was submitted to Jaipur office in Jan. I could not be there to do the application as was abroad. There was police officer who came for the enquiry and asked mum for money. Mum did not pay him so he left and this has been over a month and half. She lives in a different city and therefore we do not know how to follow up. . She used an agent for the submission but the agent has said he can not determine the status and blames mum for not paying the policeman(really……. we need to blame my mum for not bribing the policeman for doing this life threatening job… puhleeeez.). We need her passport urgently and do not know what to do. I have e mailed to the officers in Jaipur but I guess they have been out for chai for last 2 weeks as not a single reply.
Please advise, can we convert her app to tatkal to process it faster?? The only problem is mum had a spine injury recently so has not been very mobile for last 3 months and we still have to rely on an agent as I will not be india for another year or so but we need the passport asap for visa app.
In terms of corruption not much has changed and life continues as usual. We are so frustrated by the whole process but I cannot be present there and therfore can just rant about this non-sensical behaviour of our Police—online.
Please advise.

Go to the RPO requesting them to send a letter to the police station regarding enquiry of police verification. After they receive the letter they will come and re-enquire.

Thanks, will try this. It is so frustrating as these idiots have a website but the status is not being unpdated at all(what a waste of govt funds and technology(but who cares-right). They need to hire staff who are IT literate and can communicate as I have written 3 emails to them include their reporting officer in Delhi but I doubt the poor chap can read english let alone reply to an e mail.
The problem is we have gotten so much use to ignorance and inefficiency that whenever you hear or read something nasty about experiences with passport offices or High commissions abroad it does not surprise us anymore. Infact I laugh it off and say I believe you- we need a change, we need to make more noise evrytime this happens.Go India -go learn and see how efficient other countries are being run.

Go to the RPO with a letter requesting your urgency of passport. They will search for your passport which will be ready to dispatch and they will take it and give it to you. Or you may wait for another 3days.

Finally today the status changed to, “Police Verification Report for your passport application is under review at Regional Passport Office. Subject to granting, passport will be dispatched after Police Verification Report is found clear. You would receive an sms/email once the passport is dispatched.”
From previous command, this status is before police verification. But Police verification completed 2 months back.

I had applied for the re-issue of my passport through the normal process due to my marriage and major name change. I went for my appointment to the lalbagh PSK on the 9th of February. The APO there put my application on hold since mine was a major name change (removed by middle name and changed my surname) and asked me to visit the RPO on the 14th of February. I visited the relevant police station on the 20th of February for my verification. But the status on the passport site is showing “Passport application is under review at Regional Passport Office” from the 14th of February. I need my passport urgently now. How long does it normally take after the police verification? Any info on this would be appreciated.

The passport will be dispatched within 2 weeks from the date when your police verification report is received at the regional passport office. If you require your passport urgently you should follow up at the regional passport office to speed up the process as sometimes a file is kept at a place until unless someone doesn’t sees it. Though you can also wait for about 10 days before doing anything. Processes are changing slowly, you will receive your passport soon !!

The people in RPO will check with the old file of your passport. Then as soon as they receive the clear police verification at RPO they will dispatch your passport. It may take 7 to 10 days. Depending on the verification report.

Did you check the status of your application ??? If you were not present at the time of verification, was someone from your family present ?? I would say first check the status. If your PVR was adverse you must have received a letter from RPO. If not then your application must be cancelled. If the application has been cancelled you will have to apply again. And if you need it urgently you can also apply in tatkal. You should call the customer care of passport seva at 1800-258-1800 before taking any actions, they will help you with every problem.

I have a couple of below queries regarding Re-issue of passport at a PSK.
1) Is it mandatory to upload the supporting documents along with the passport application at the PSK’s online portal or we can directly submit them at the PSK counter?
2) I have a small change in my address like earlier it was H. No. 1-A, and now the municipal corporation has allocated new house no. to our place. So my new address has become H. No. 1-A (F-7/322). My questions are –
a) Do I need to provide a change of address proof document at the PSK desk?
b) I have already booked an appointment, can I ask the PSK officer (at the desk) to change my address back to 1-A only so that I don’t have to provide another address proof?
c) Does they do the police verification if there is no change of address? N if above kind of change of address happens, then would the police verification still be required?
kindly reply urgently because I have this appointment for tomrrow only…

1) it is not mandatory to upload the documents, the CSE at PSK will scan and upload them at counter A.
2)You can do changes in the application after producing the right set of documents, whatever error is there in the application can be corrected, the CSE is going to confirm everything before finalizing the application.
If you are applying for reissue, in most cases police verification is done on Pre passport issue basis. So you need not worry about that. Just make sure that you carry the right set of documents.

Here are the activities that happen in background to obtain a police clearance certificate, if your passport address city is not same as city from where you apply for pcc –
You submit your application via passport seva kendra(PSK).Status comes to “PCC under review with passport seva kendra”.
1. PSK forwards the application to commissioner office close to rajbhavan,blore.
2. Commissioner office personal forwards to local police station.
3. Local police guys call up and ask us visit their station with documents.
4. LOcal police guys fill up the form with details and send the police verification report via post to commissioner office.
5. Commissioner office personal approves the report once it reaches them and forward the physical copy to regional passport office(rpo).
6. rpo scans each of the application and approves them.
7. once approved psk can provide the police clearance certificate.
The total time taken for this is 1 to 1.5 months approx.
You end up spending money for moving file from one place to another and you’ve to travel to each of the station/office to do it.In addition, You get humiliated in the process of talking to the arrogant govt guys… !
Here is my experience –
step 2: Commissioner office guy held it with him for 2 weeks. He looked at my application only after i went there and he assigned it to the local police station. Had to bear charges and humiliation in addition to the delay !
step 3: there was no call from Local police station nor did they visit me, i went and asked them to process it. It was quick but had to pay some charges.
step 4: Filled up the form and they kept it somewhere as i had told them it is urgent and they missed to send it. I was sent back and forth between commissioner office and local police station. 1.5 weeks went by and then I redid my application again as it was lost somewhere.
step 5: visited the commissioner office again to speed up the application and now too had to bear some charges.
step 6: didnt visit rpo as the rpo does it automatically in 1-2 days time, incase psk asks us to do visit rpo then we have to visit them.This will happen if rpo misses to scan your report. you have to take a token and wait for a long time 2-3 hrs.
step 7 : this is easy, just collect it but will take 1.5 hrs time, psk is crowded and slow !!
Moral of the story : just go to hometown(your passport address) and get your pcc done, they will give it in a days time most probably !

I went to the Lalbagh PSK today to get my son’s passport renewal done. We had a 2PM appointment and reached the PSK by 1.20pm. There was a huge crowd outside the office. Not sure if Fridays are generally busy. The security guard looked at my appointment sheet and immediately let the car in. We stood in a queue and were ushered in promptly at 1.30pm. Taking a token at the first counter was easy and we were waiting at the A counter by 1.40pm. Another 10min and we were at the A counter personnel. We finished A counter by 2pm. The person took photograph of my son and scanned my passport, my wife’s passport and my son’s. We also paid the fees for renewal here. We went to B counter and had to wait till 5.10pm for our turn. Finished B counter @ 5.10, C counter @ 5.30 and were out by 5.45pm. Were it not for the wait @ the B counter, the whole process was smooth.
Pros –
1. The whole process is very smooth. The security guys and personnel at the PSK are very helpful.
2. There is a snack corner inside the premises. We get tea, coffee and biscuits there. Surprisingly, they charge the same as MRP and do not rob people like it happens in bus stations and railway stations!!
3. I am very happy that I did not have to spend money on bribes or go through touts. I have never had such a good experience in a government office ever. Kudos to the people who have implemented this and made this happen!!
Cons –
Can’t think of any! Very good experience. Wish all the other government organizations are made to work this way. Life would become a lot easier.

My son’s (8 yrs old) birth certificate do not have his name as we have not decided on name at the time of issuing birth certificate. It was mentioned at passportindia.gov.in that if minor’s birth certificate do not have name, declaration by the parents stating the name is sufficient. My worry is that after going to PSK they may object..So, just want to check whether anyone were successful this way in Bangalore..

The blank birth certificate would not cause any problems in getting a passport for your son.Recently I got a passport done for my daughter with a blank certificate.Infact they did not ask for a declaration also.But make sure you have a NOC from your husband if he is not coming with you.

Possibly your documents are not complete and you need to complete some formalities. You may receive letter from passport office informing about the problem. Perhaps you should call them and check with them.

I, Fareen Begum Guranni, applied for obtaining Passport for performing Hujj Piligramage for 2012. After getting appointment from Passport Seva Kendra, Lalbagh Road, Bangalore, visited twice. First appointment rejected because of
a. Non-submission of Original Leaving Certificate, since it was submitted to the college while admission.
b. Because of affidevit in Kannada Version (Marriage Certificate) without any change name of women after marriage, since, Annexure-D is required in case if the women name changed after marriage
c. Sbummitted One year Statement of A/c., issued by the Banker along with covering letter, it is also rejected since, the covering letter given by the Banker in Banker’s letter pad was hand written with seal and signature. (But convienced)
Now, while 2nd appointment, I took all the documents, i.e. Original School Leaving Certifacte from the School, Affidevit for Marriage in English Version, Spouse Passport, PAN card, residential certificate issued by the Chief Officer, Muncipalty, a copy of Notice for Marriage (applied at Marriage Officer), etc.,
Even though, 2nd appointment also rejected due to non-submission of Annexure D… Since, Annexure D is only required when a women changes her name after marriage, it is required. But in my case, I have not changed my name after marriage.
Could you please help me for getting the possitive reply. Shall I take one more affidevit in Annexure-D even after there is no change of name after my marriage.

I suggest that you make a visit to the Police commissioner’s office to check if the papers have been sent to the Regional passport office. If the police commissioner’s office has sent the papers, please visit the passport seva kendra with your file number to get the current status. The person sitting at enquiry counter at PSK will help you on this and you do not need any appointment for this.

I need to apply for a passport renewal. I did online submission of application. i need it very urgent, so I am going to apply Tatkal. I was trying to get an appointment for the past few days, but every day I get a message saying that ‘no slot available for the next day’ . When I heard that I can get an online appointment, I thought I will get a calendar of 1 or 2 months, and I can choose the date – is it not the same case?
I also would like to know if I can go there without seeking an appointment, especially if I can go with a paperfilled application? Can someone help ?

So am finally done with the Police verification and the status in the PSK site is as follows:
Passport application has been granted and Police Verification Report has been submitted. You would receive an email/sms once the passport is dispatched.
I guess the status is the same for about a week. Is there anything i should do or jus wait for the sms?

You may or may not get an SMS / email. You should receive it in about 2-3 weeks time. If you are lucky, status may be updated on time on website. Mine was updated after one week of having passport in my hand. It’s India 🙂

I applied for a fresh passport and completed all the formalities, police verification was also done by 19/1/2012. Then the status of my application became “Your Passport application has been granted, Police Verification Report has been submitted, You would receive an email/sms once the passport is dispatched.” But the status changed to “Police has completed verification process on 10/02/2012. Your passport will be dispatched after ‘Clear’ Police Verification Report is received at Regional Passport Office. You would receive an email/sms once the passport is dispatched.” on 10th february 2012. Now my question is if the PVR was submitted earlier and the application was GRANTED, doesn’t that mean that police report was CLEAR ???? Also @Mathesh after how much time did you receive your passport when your status was “Passport application has been granted and Police Verification Report has been submitted. You would receive an email/sms once the passport is dispatched.” ???

Then it became “Police has completed verification process on 14/02/2012. Your passport will be dispatched after ‘Clear’ Police Verification Report is received at Regional Passport Office. I just checked the status and it has been updated to “Passport application is under review at Regional Passport Office.” And I also inquired about the strange status, Application granted means that the application was submitted at PSK and a file no. generated and the submission of police report referred to the submission at PSK. Then the PSK forwards the application to Regional Passport Office. Please keep updated!!

I would like to share the pain I went through during passport renewal at Passport office, Lalbagh Bangalore.
As my passport expired 3 month back and I am looking to move to a different role on Gulf, I decided to renew my password. After struggling for few weeks, I got an appointment for Tuesday 31st Jan 2012.
In my previous passport, they have mentioned about ECR, I was told to get SSLC certificate to remove ECR, During the process, I asked the office regarding if there is a provision to convert the passport from Normal to Tatkal if there is any urgency. I was told that if my previous police verification is clear, then I am eligible to apply for Tatkal without any verification certificate and office in A counter asked me to enquire in B counter. I paid 1500 rupees for normal passport (Jumbo) and then went to B counter.
In the B counter, I updated the officer that I want to keep my application on hold as I want to remove ECR and also checked her about converting to Tatkal. After she verified my previous passport police verification, she asked me to pay 1500 for Tatkal and mentioned “Police Verification Clear” on my file. I returned to home to get SSLC certificate and the money. I was very happy with their service.
Unfortunately I could not find my SSLC and Plus II certificate looks like I misplaced them or left in my home town. I carried BA, MA and PGDCS marks card and alos 1500 rupees and went to passport yesterday morning, Wednesday 1st Feb 2012.
In A counter, they asked me to pay 1500 and asked for SSLC certificate. She accepted my degree and post-degree marks card for ECNR and paid 1500 rupees for Tatkal. My pain starts here:
• In B counter, one gentleman verified the documents (this was already done yesterday) and I was shocked to hear that he can’t accept my application as there is no signature on the Bank statement even though there is a seal.
• I have submitted three address proof (1 year bank statement with bank seal, company letter and Landline phone bill)
• I told the gentleman that his colleague had a look at the documents and she didn’t raise any objection. He was not ready to listen and asked me to get the signature.
• I then met APO and it hardly took two minutes. She was frustrated with that guy for rejecting an application and she approved the address proof
• Finally I reached C counter and I thought everything is over
• But I was wrong, she didn’t accept the Degree and Master Degree Marks card and she wants to only SSLC certificate. I asked the officer what are the other certificates I can provide, she said only they can accept SSLC certificate and the reason was only SSLC contains DOB. I am not applying for new passport and my DOB is already there in the old passport.
• I was also told that I am not eligible for Tatkal passport and I was asked to meet APO again
• I applied only after they told me that I can apply for Tatkal as my previous policy verification is clear.
• Waited for 30 minutes (I was there at Passport office at 8:45 and it was already 12:00) and finally got a chance to meet the APO
• After listening to my story, she consulted both B and C counter officers and told me to submit a letter to convert into a Normal
• She acknowledged that it was their mistake asking me to pay additional 1500 rupees for Tatkal. The reason given for rejecting my application for Tatkal was my photo was not uploaded in the website for previous passport. But the shocking news is they can’t return my money. She said they will send the application for police verification today and as soon as I am done with policy verification I can go to Koramangala Office and ask for Tatkal.
• I didn’t have any other options other than listening to them
• She agreed to do ECNR as I have valid marks card. (Something to cheer )
• Again back to Counter A –> B -> C
• Finally they accepted my application and I got the acknowledgement. I didn’t look at the acknowldgement as it was already too late to reach the office. I was shocked when I had chance to see “Emigration Check Required” is set to “yes” in the ACK.
Am I not eligible for ECNR? I am holding a master degree and paying tax for last 6 years.). As per the passport policy any person who completed SSLC or above is eligible for ECNR. I believe “above” means Degree and master degree.
I don’t have the email ID or phone number of APO of Passport Seva Kendra, Lalbagh Bangalore. I called customer care, they have only RPO’s email ID, not APO. I sent an email to RPO requesting for the APO contact details, but there is no response.
Does any have Lalbhag Passport Office APO contact details. Please share it

I went to passport office on 12/12/2011 and applied for fresh passport through normal mode in Tambaram PSK.
The status in website is “Police Verification (PV) has been initiated and a PV request has been sent to Commissioner of Police, Egmore, Chennai. Your passport will be dispatched after Clear Police Verification Report is received at Regional Passport Office. You would receive an email/sms once the passport is dispatched.”

Many people here search for the passport renewal blog and come here to post their good experience. I seriously do not agree that these are really true experiances. I went thru a painfull process to get my passport thru the new system. And i saw many people crying to the deaf passport officials to get their passport. Yesterday i saw a old lady in PSK tambaram crying. She was begging to the passport officials to allow her to see her son. Another girl who was in her mid tweenties wants to see her dying mother before she passes away who is on treatment in some country. These officials have deaf years to them. Not to mention about the attitude of the TCS employees there. My god a horrible scene in PSk’s. Some people say that this kind of scrutiny is a direct result of the money inflow to the PSK officials from the brokers from the old system. So i urge the people not to post false exp in this blog.

Dinesh, i am sorry to hear about the bad experiences you observed in PSK. Well, initially there were certainly few hiccups in PSK operations in Bangalore. Over a period of time, I am seeing good responses from my readers. So, I think it will settle down in other states too like Tamil Nadu and Andhra which got passport seva kendra’s very recently. YOu always have the grief redressal incase someone is not falling inline with the established standard operating process.

I am wondering about the stupid TCS fellow who lead this project from TCS side. When user click on manage appointment, what is the next step to do? In general sense, they should show the calendar and allow the user to choose right day of their choice. If all are full, all those days must be disabled or shown in Red color. There are thousands of examples on Indian sites such as VFS sites, TTD Room booking, Redbus etc
While coming to my problem, still struggling for appoint to be fixed on 26 Dec on Chennai.

Just a week back i was on this site looking for details on the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) as i had to get my name endorsed in my spouse’s passport. Gone are the old days when it took ages and cumbersome process to get the spouse’s name endorsed. Mine just took about a weeks time. I got all the details required on this very blog and was able to schedule an appointment for my wife the very next day. Please note that the schedule booking can be done only around 6 PM IST. Luckily i got the slot for her around 9:45 AM on Monday morning. Ensure to be at the PSK 45 mins earlier as there are other people waiting to get in along with u at the same time slot.
Once in, it took about 2 – 2:30 hours for the entire process to finish and i had to wait outside PSK. If you are accompanying someone, please ensure to have ur mean.. LOLZZ.
There are 3 counters inside. Counter A, B & C.. As i said, depending on the number of people who have booked the slot at the same time frame, the time could increase inside the counter. Ours took almost 3 hours for the entire process to complete. Please note the person accompanying you will not be allowed inside and will have to wait outside the PSK perimeter. Feel the parking is bit too expensive as they charge 10/- for 2 wheeler alone.
The gud news, after a weeks time, my spouse has received her passport delivered. Its nice to know that the service was quick, accurate and amazing.
Points to note:-
1. Ensure to fill correct and accurate information on the site.
2. Ensure to scan and upload all the required documents required.
3. Ensure to carry additional document as precaution. My spouse did not want a change of address for her passport address. However, they requested for proof of address again and luckily we had the voters ID as proof.
4. Try to logging in at 6 PM to schedule the meeting and ensure to take the early morning a slot as the traffic would be less and also the work would get completed early.
Wishing all passport appliers the very best and cheers to the PSK for making its a fast and easy process for all.

The time to book a slot is 6:00 pm every day. It was mentioned on their website that they release the slots at that time.I was able to book slots for my parents during that time. Make sure you login 10 minutes earlier and complete the process. Try to book a slot by 6:30 pm. Afterwards you will not be able to find a slot.

I was amazed with the experience I had in PSK in Outer ring road, opposite to Intel office. I applied online for my daughter’s passport (she is 3 years old). My passport as well as my wife’s passport carry the address from Kolkata. The web site mentioned that if your passport carries the Bangalore address, then you don’t need any address proof for kid’s application. Since none of my or my wife’s passport had that, we decided to use Gas bill as the address proof. Our names were there in each others passport though. I carried the following documents:
For address proof – last month HP gas bill along with the red color service book HP gas provided.
Annexure H – printed on normal paper, signed by me and my wife.
photocopy of both of ours passport. (Got the photocopies attested by some notary from Mayo hall)
kid’s birth certificate photocopy (attested)
My appointment time was Tuesday 1:30pm, reporting time was 1:00pm. I went to passport office around 12:50 and stood in a queue of approximately 10 people(everybody’s reporting time was 1:00pm).
At exactly 1:00pm they issued a token and allowed us to enter (me, my wife and my daughter). In the first counter they verified all papers and allowed us to enter inside the main office. If you don’t have correct set of papers, you will be returned from here only. My token was called immediately (within 1:15) in ‘A’ counter. They took the photograph of my kid etc. then I went to ‘B’ counter where one officer verified all documents with original. Then I waited for “C” counter for 15 minutes. In “C” counter, the officer checked the application and asked to see the kid. Then he said, passport is granted. I came out of the passport office by 1:45pm. I applied for Tatkal. while exiting from the office, they gave me the receipt and said it will take 3-5 working days to get the passport.
I tracked the application status online, I applied for the passport on a Tuesday. On Thursday evening (9pm), the online status said the passport has been dispatched in a speed post. I got an email where the speed post tracking number was given.
On Friday morning (9:30 am itself), I checked the speed post online delivery status and it said the parcel has been already delivered to Whitefield post office. I called up there and they told me it will be delivered today to your home but if you want, you can come and collect it personally with address proof and identity proof. I went there and collected it myself. I showed my license as the identity proof.
Overall I was truly amazed with the quality and speed of the service. From a Government office, my expectation was much less, but I was very happy to be wrong.

This people they dont update in timely manner.. In my case(for my spouse passport) the status was passport application accepted will be deliver in few days time. When see this status the next day it was delivered and status remain same for 3 weeks. So thats how we operate in India.. No worries. Be patience. delivered

I went to PSK. They told me to go to RPO.
I immediately went to RPO and there got a token issued (go with your passport, PCC status printout and PCC Receipt).
After 4 hours of wait (So take a token, go for lunch to a nearby place and come 🙂 ), they told me police report is received but not uploaded. So they were searching in registers. I offered myself for help, and they gave me the register. I searched and found my police verification report. So they uploaded. Next day I went to PSK and got it with in 1 hour time.
I suggest: go to PSK early and check with them. most probably, they will direct you to RPO (Koramangala) (Assuming you are from Bangalore).

Thanks Diptesh that information is really helpful, I have also applied for PCC on 22nd Nov 2011 and my status shows “PCC application is under review at Passport Seva Kendra.” I visited PSK Sai arcade and they ask me to go and check RPO koramangala. I am going to visit that tomorrow. Around what time RPO koramangala start issuing tokens? I have applied for PCC for me and my wife(two separate applications) , so does she also needs to visit RPO koramangala?

I visited RPO around 11 AM and I got Token No. 147. I think earlier is better. Only applicant will be allowed. So if your app is on hold / under review, you should visit RPO; if your wife’s app is under review she should. You won’t be able to check your wife’s app and vice versa. My wife had to go for her PCC (they didn’t allow me and I did try to negotiate)

Finally I got the PCC Thanks Diptesh guiding the right way. I went to commissioner office on saturday to get the dispatch number and then visited RPO today Monday. I was told that it was already granted on site it was “for review status” I was asked to go to PSK and I got it on the same day. My experience with the PSK, Lalbagh Road, Bangalore
I wanna renew my passport which was expired in the year 2006; So went and created a user ID with the official website of PSK; Filled the user friendly application with out any problems; It took 10 days to get an appointment (In fact; the very first day I tried to get an appointment but didn’t get; Googled to get the information about appointments & came to know I got to try at around 6:00 pm in the evening; Tried on the same day evening with no luck (That day, slots were available for the other PSK located in Bangalore but I was not interested in traveling that far) then I forgot to try for next 8 days; on the 9th day when I tried at around 6:00 pm the browser was too slow to load the page; thought may be due to excess traffic; I patiently waited for 10-12 mins & I got it for the next day);
The scheduled timing was at 11:15 am & I was suppose to report or be there by 10:45am; I was there & got inside immediately; went to the initial document checking counter & came to know everything is right; (I was carrying The appointment letter with BAR code, my old passport; ration card; gas connection book along with the monthly cylinder supply acknowledge slip, my SSLC book and one set of photocopy of all these documents); They issued me a token with a number and asked me to go to the first step ie “A Section”
Went and waited for few mins (5 mins I guess); they called my number; went inside & they checked all the documents (They took the xerox of my SSLC book’s front page & the page where I have all the marks mentioned; then the cylinder supply slip’s xerox & checked my old passport) & fount that I have mentioned my spouse name in the application form with no valid proof; they asked me for the marriage certificate & I said I don’t have it right now; they guide me to the manager’s cabin for suggestion; He asked me to get an affidavit done and get back before 3:00pm;
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU CARRY ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS (BOTH ORIGINALS & ONE SET OF XEROX COPY; NO PHOTOS REQUIRED AS THEY HAVE CAMERAS INSIDE TO TAKE YOUR SNAP).
I went out and got a guy who does this work (You get plenty of them in front of the gate) for you. Though he is little expensive I asked him to do it immediately for me; that requires two passport size photo of mine & my wife’s; I was lucky to have both the photos in my wallet;
12.00 Noon the guy left for the affidavit; I was waiting waiting & waiting… at around 12.50pm I called him up & he said I am on my way back; 1:10pm there he is; He asked me to sign the affidavit; & I signed for myself & for my wife (winks);
Went inside; Back to square 1; went to the first document checker (this time it took 20 mins to reach her) got everything checked again & got a fresh token; Round-2 to Section “A” & waited for 20 mins to see my token number; went inside section “A”, checked everything & it took hardly 11 mins and they asked me to go to Section “B”; went & waited for 12 mins to see my number flashing on the screen; took hardly 6 mins & the lady asked me to wait out side Section “C”; another 10 mins I guess… call came & I was inside Section “C”; The lady in charge looked at me top to bottom and asked me for my old passport; after few mins she said “done” you can go & collect the acknowledgement from the other counter; Few mins later I walked out with the acknowledgement copy that says “Passport granted with Post police verification”
Felt hungry & I looked at my watch; 3:15 pm; (You get snacks, Xerox counter, rest room etc inside the facility). Don’t know when I will get my passport in hand; Let me see; I will try to update on that.

I recently went to Madurai RPO for re-issue of my passport with Change of Address and wife’s name addition. PSK TCS staff were handling the work well till form completion. During verification, the govt officer asked me to bring additional address proof. They have put my new passport file ON HOLD. I have my old passport with me. They did NOT put CANCEL stamp on my old passport which I have, and asked me to collect the acknowledgment slip which has “ON HOLD” as status printed on it.
Does that mean I can travel on my passport which I am holding.It has validity date till 2015. Somebody if have any experience, please kindly share. I tried askng the same question about travelling on old passport from RPO, they are not responding. They always ask me to contact the PSK toll free and PSK ask to contact RPO. i personally went to RPO and they say they do not have the file . Never ending referrals of no use. I am really worried on this thing.

Old passport is valid until you get new one in hand..Once the new passport ready they will call you to bring old passport and put the cancel stamp.. I am not sure about PSK procedure and this was happend to me in past.. But I renewed my passport in Shanghai.. Not sure about in India.. This I am sure you can travel with old passport until you get the new one or until expiry date.. Hope this will help.. Cheers,

Thanks for the reply. The PSK FAQs mention that the Verification officer would put CANCEL stamp once the application is accepted. In my case they have put my application “ON HOLD” and did not put CANCEL and let me go with my old passport after collecting acknowledgement slip.

As for as I know, they dont put cancel stamp until unless they deliver ur new passport.. Mean while u can travel where ever u want.. In my case, I have submitted my renewal, Once they said it was ready, I did not pick up and I used my old passport to travel then 10 days later I went and picked up..
