My passport validity was about to expire in a couple of months and I was thinking of renewing it sometime soon. Very recently got to know about ‘Passport Seva Kendra’ (PSK) through a friend and decided to use this newly launched facility to renew my passport. All the information was available on their website about the documents, process, fee structure etc., It was indeed a very smooth option to fill out all the form detail online as well as submitting the same through their website. Also, there was an option to schedule the appointment with passport issuing authority online!
To be doubly sure, I called up their toll free helpline 1800-258-1800 to ensure I have the right set of documents and the process followed is correct. Since there was no change in address, I just had to drop in personally at PSK at a pre-scheduled time with current passport which is about to expire. Well, the other documents included the appointment acknowledgement print out and 2 self attested photo copies from the current passport.
I was told explicitly that there is no need to carry photographs as they have set up a digital imaging system to capture photo there itself while processing the form. Also, I was told that the fee for reissue of passport can be paid at the processing counter. All is well until this point.
Rest of the story as it unfolded made me realize the famous saying – “if everything goes smooth without any hurdles, surely you are in wrong lane”. Well, I had the appointment between 1:30pm – 2:15pm at Passport Seva Kendra, Lalbagh road, Bangalore. Reached the premises and got inside the building at 1:00pm upon showing the acknowledgment print out of the appointment. Had to stand in the queue here too to get a token for visiting processing, verification and issual counters. The queue wasn’t moving at all. After an hour one of the official came out and said the servers are down and it may take a while. Later on got to know that the servers were down since 11:30am! Thanks to Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) who have partnered with ministry of external affairs, India to empower the IT systems/infrastructure and to maintain these PSK kiosks.
Again at 2:30pm, one elderly official came to announce that they will switch over to manual mode of passport processing since the servers haven’t been restored and they are not in a position to retrieve the forms that applicants had submitted online. They decided to process those who had filled in forms in hand which weren’t submitted online. Online applicants were told to BUY form (which costs Rs. 10/-) and fill it up, ensure to have passport size photos, then head over to processing counters to get the work done. A fool in me, relying too much on computers had gone there without photos. I had 2 options : Either get the photos and fill up the form all over again manually or visit again some other day hoping to be lucky by then. Since there was a huge crowd and had to attend to work decided for the latter option.
So, this is what I learnt from todays experience:
1. Don’t rely on computer systems at government offices YET!
2. Always carry photographs no matter what whenever you need to fill a form related to govt offices.
3. Carry a pen in the pocket whenever you are out (my parents still shout at me for not complying to this since my college days, there is a bigger story on why don’t like to keep one… may be sometime later!)
4. Expect not to get the work done through govt offices as per the schedule.

Here is a sad story of how our country treats our own citizens despicably:
A fried of mine living in the US was on a important business trip to Amsterdam. He lost his Indian passport there. So went to the Indian Embassy in Amsterdam. They informed him they cannot issue him a passport, he will have to return to India to go to the Passport office in Chennai. They gave him “Emergency travel certificate”. He returned to Chennai (cost of getting tickets to chennai now). Went to passport office in chennai they informed he will have to wait since they have to verify his loss, and this might take time approximately 1 year. His whole life is gone, his whole career is gone, he lost his job in the US since he could not return back to the US.
This is what we people do to our own citizens. In my personal opinion, all workers in passport offices should be made salute the citizens who enter their office. It must be made compulsory. If they dont salute them they should be whipped daily with a whip.

Absolutely agreed Sid. My story is also similar. I got my Takkal passport and i had gone overseas for my job. After a month, due to problem in police clearence certificate we got a letter in my chennai house to resubmit the passport back. The local embassy couldn’t help me and i have to return to chennai passport office for getting that cleared. I came back and submitted it and i couldnt get back my passport for 6 months. I lost my job overseas and went back in my career 3 years.
Finally i got the passport back after 6 months after a long struggle.
Even today my kid’s passport are stuck in passport office for renewal. I hate to say this, but if we have to fight against this we are at the losing side unless we have the time, money and effort to fight it.

Applied for a re issuse of passport today. If you have all the required document, then the process is very easy. The only problem is the waiting time….takes almost 3 hours from start to finish. But the time is each counter is very less. Counter “A” takes about 15 minutes to get all your details, photograph, bio metrics, etc….then comes the waiting. Counters “B” and “C” takes about 5 mins each. Overall well organized and very efficient works by staff of MEA and TCS. For people who find it difficult to locate the place…its just next to Bharani Hospital (Vadapalani/Saligramam).

Iam facing similar problem in Chennai .. not able to get appointment at any of the PSK in Chennai though I have been trying several times at 6 PM and for last 10 days … Does it work on Saturday or Sunday ? On weekdays I have not been successful so far. Any and every help in getting the appointments will be of great help.. I also heard that agents are able to get slots easily with a payment of Rs300/- per person. Not sure what is the best way to go about.

I applied through the normal quota being under the impression that this would be quick. However it has been close to 15 days now and only today the status in the website has changed to “Passport application has been granted to applicant on 18/10/2011. Your application is under processing. You would receive an email/sms once the passport is dispatched.” Guys please do reply. Thanks!

rent agreement is accepted as address proof or not I have xerox of my rent agreement of last year & original & xerox of current year .I also have ration card of same address plus passbook of bank of India one month old.

Mohit take all the documents with you. Rent agreement is accepted but the decision is in the hands of the RPO officer. I would play safe and take the Rent agreement both the orginal and Photo copy (current + old). Ration card (Orginal + 2 photo copies), any other Govt ID – (voter id, PAN etc)
PS: Bank statement should be at least a year old just one month is not going to help.

I have been trying for a week to schedule an appointment. Log in exactly at 6 PM, check if there is appointment available for all 3 PSK’s in Chennai but no luck. Called TCS helpline to hear that they are helpless and that passport office alone can release the quota at 6 PM.
At least when the passport office was there we could stand in a line and get the application across. Here there is no remedy and will have to wait if MEA Chennai folks to do some work or TCS website to work correctly.

@eskay Log in at 6 PM exactly. Just relax and try till 6:45 – 7:00. You will get it. They upload/release the appointment slots from the central server at 6PM. It usually takes around 10-15 min to show up everywhere. So most of the time people just try for the first 10-12 min and then log off in despair.
Just have patience and keep trying till 6:45, you will get it! There are lot of slots available.Specially with RPO’s clamping down on agents who block slots there are slots available for the common people.
PS: if this does not work- try again tomorrow 🙂

Ive tried at different timings on different times starting 5:55 pm, 6:00 pm, 6:05, 6:15 pm and 6:30 pm. It always says “No Tatkaal appointment slots are available for the selected Passport Seva Kendra (PSK).Please try scheduling an appointment later, or go to Applicant Home to schedule your appointment under Normal quota.”
I will keep trying. If someone has got tatkal appointment in chennai successfully, please update your trick!

After trying for 1 week I got online Tatkal appointment for my two kids
I don’t know if this will work for you, but sharing my experience for benefit of others
I used Mozilla Firefox browser (it might work on IE or Chrome too i guess)
On a Sunday evening, I logged in at 6:00 pm, and kept trying for 4-5 times.
At 6:03 pm the slots opened and I could see all slots available. I tried picking the first slot and before I could confirm, someone else had taken the slot.
Next I tried the 11 am slot @ Tambaram PSK which I got confirmed.
I tried again for my next kid, but all slots in Tambaram were exhausted. But there were a few left in Saligramam PSK, which I booked for my second kid.
You have to try several days, with patience to get through.
I almost thought this system doesn’t work, until I got appointments myself.
For kids passport, Tambaram PSK insisted that Mother passport MUST have father name endorsement (I had my wife’s name endorsement in my passport, but they didn’t accept it). However, Saligramam PSK accepted it for my second kid, saying endorsement in any one parent’s passport is sufficient, thought both parents endorsement is recommended / good to have.
I then re-booked another tatkal appointment for my first kid at Saligramam on another day and got the passport issued
For infant it took max 1 hour from entry to exit
Passports got delivered home within 4 days as there was no PV for minors

I wanted to add my spouse name to my passport and booked an appointment with PSK tamabaram. At the PSK, after verifying my apssport, I am told that they dont have the ‘data’ or ‘report’ for my passport and asked me to contact the Regional passport office in chennai. I went to RPO and no one there could understand that was told by the PSK in terms of ‘data’ or ‘report’.
My passport was renwed in 2009, after the 10 years validity and I dont remember a police verification was done at that time as I am still still staying in the same residence. Is that what they means as data or report missing. If so, what should be my next steps.
I have valid Canadian visa in the new passport and have travelled to many places including US and UK in last couple of years.
Your help will be appreciated.

No Luck was trying with chrome,Mozilla for the last two days exactly submitting at 6.00 PM for PSK Tambaram but the same response no appointment slot. don’t tense yourself. Its not your fault.
The quota is not released exactly at 6:00 pm and i feel, it varies from time to time starting from 6:00 PM onwards.
The reason why i’m saying this is because, i had the same problem as you. I even logged a mail compliant but one day, later, my efforts paid off. (for one entire week, i logged in at 6:00 PM everyday and try to book an appointment, then irritation takes over because i didn’t get it and stop it there .Then i tried one day, relaxed at 6: 15 pm and I got it!)

I got the appointment at 6.10 PM. You got to try booking again and wait patiently even when the system throws an error “No appointment slots”. Give it a try today evening. But i was able to book only Normal appointments and tat too appointment dated 28/10/2011.

Well, i had applied for the passport on the 14th of October, 2011 and it went smoothly without any hassles. I was out in two hours after all the “A to the B to the C” counters !! ;P
5-7 days later, I called the Guindy police station(I stay in Ekkaduthangal, so I come under the jurisdiction of J3 Police Station Guindy. I found this by visiting the TN Police website and calling one of the numbers provided there and I got the number of the Sub inspector incharge of Passport Verification)
I spoke to the Sub Inspector and he asked me to wait because they were busy due to Local Body elections and then, post diwali holidays, I contacted him again on the morning of 2nd, November 2011 and he asked me to come to the Station at 8:00 pm.
I went there, was asked some questions, answered them confidently and then put my signature and left with a ‘parting gift’.
I shal continue to post until i get the PP!

After endless calls, to the Police dude (i called this guy once a week, and he clearly got irritated. Wrong choice). but the number to call to check your Passport status, IF YOU HAVE COMPLETED YOUR POLICE VERIFICATION: is 04423452337. A lady will pick up and give same excuse, “it will change status sir and stuff”. I used to call once or twice a week. and finally today, the 21st of November 2011, the status has finally changed to:
Passport application has been granted and Police Verification Report has been submitted. You would receive an email/sms once the passport is dispatched.
We are true indians. We will always be indians!!! We delay and take our own time, get the job done top quality / bad quality / late / never, but we are indians!!!

I had applied for my son’s passport. one fresh application and other reissue a month back. To my surprise today I got call from the police station to fill up forms along with residence proof, birth certificate etc . I was surpsied to hear this as my sons are minor and i know that for minors no police verification is required. Also passport of my spouse and mine has each other mentioned as spouse and the permanenet address is also the same as current one.
I remeber earlier when i had applied for my passport, the police guy had come to my place for verification, now they ask you to come over to police station and demand the same documents)pp copy, birth certificate,add proof etc) that were furnisehd earlier at the time of application. Why this redundancy? Has the process undergone any change for minor in regards to police verification? Please advise.

After learning so many things from here I managed to get 1 appointment for tatkal and took leave from office and went to re-issue my passport.The guys there are more confused than all of us.The PSKs in Chennai are new & they are not clear with anything.I found the PSK-Tambram having a very good arrangement,but people are definitely not.
First the PSK ppl tell me that we don’t accept damaged passport here and send me to back office in haddows road(25kms far) on the same day or come after week when they have clear idea(not sure even jus idea).I escalated the issue and made the govt official to write on the appointment letter to refer to back office.I asked them atleast to confirm if I can apply in tatkal and they told yes tatkal can be applied but we are not accepting either tatkal nor normal.I went to back office and The back office people didnt even bother to hear the case rather told me to re-apply on next monday.There was complete chaos there and i returned back dissapointed.
Luckily I got an appointment on monday for tatkal in same PSK and when I went there dey tel we cant accept the passport for tatkal.It can only be applied i normal.I was shocked because these are the same people who told me that you can apply in tatkal.I booked in tatkal since I had 3 proofs,annexture I ready.Rather they tell me to book an appointment in normal and come again,they cant change this to normal also even when I told I am ok with a normal coz I am not gettin another leave from office!!!Even with a blunt face they told where can you complain regarding this???I felt so helpless.That was the height of all the excuses.I argued and told why will I book it in tatkal if I would not have got confirmation from you?Its you guys who misguided me and I ran to bank and collected all documents(affidavits) for tatkal!I can not come back so many times just to apply leave alone getting the passport will have so many other things like police verification and colecting passport.Now they started finding faults in my documents and one guy even told me to have a photo ID on my employee letter when I had the ID card and the letter separately.bring 3 years proofs for It return(Nothing like this is mentioned in the website).Above all he says me a cliched dialoge”Getting a passport is not easy”.I lost my cool and told “This is why we have PSK to make the process easier and you saying this??”Disgusted I left and thought its my bad luck !!Accept things in INDIA and be silent, otherwise you will loose respect.

I had a bad experiance with PSK chennai tambaram. After the procedure of collecting the fees the attitude of the people changed. I sat in the que for more than three hours after collecting token. When i last my patience when i went to the TCS guys asking for the time it will take, they cancelled my token and gave me a new one and when i asked for the explanation i was given a bad response. The token was not moved to the next level since the passport official had a grudge with me. when i asked about their names they refused to give me their names. Watch out for the B counter people. Even the TCS lead who works there has a serious attitude. My advice is do not book in PSK tambaram. I will followup with the names of the people i am taking about and post it here.

I have filled the online app through passport seva website and i am trying to book appointment, but i am not able to book a slot at all in the Tambaram PSK nor the other two PSKs in chennai. It always says no appointments available, try again later. I have tried it a few time at 6 PM. Please can you help if the online mode is the only way to book an appointment for tatkal reissue?

I too faced the same situation of trying to get appointment. Luckily I got an appointment on Friday. my date is for tomorrow (monday).
No tricks- Use Mozilla firefox (instead of IE). If you’re tech-savvy, you shouldn’t have a problem with adding security certificates. By 5:45 pm, login to your id, select Appointment type as ‘Normal’, select your PSK, type the captcha letters on the screen and keep submitting. Don’t have any other screens open. If you’re lucky, you might get a ‘Normal’ Appointment.
Once you get a ‘Normal’ Appointment type, you can go back to ‘Manage Appointment’ and change it to ‘Tatkal’ if required.
Hope you get it this time!

On checking the documents required for re-issue of passport, no affidavit is mentioned in the requirements, but the same has been asked for fresh passport cases. The guys in the call centre also mentioned only documents stated in the web site are mandatory, is it true? also my passport was lastly issued in dubai, so can I apply in tatkaal with chennai address. I want to apply for fresh/ reissue of passport under Tatkaal scheme (Adult or Minor)
If you need a fresh passport or reissue of passport faster than the prescribed time frame for issue of passport in normal course, you can apply under the Tatkaal scheme.
Apart from the mandatory documents, you need to submit a standard affidavit(; Annexure I) and either a Verification Certificate(Annexure F) or any three documents out of the list of 15 documents , but atleast one should be a photo identity document.
3 out of 15 documents are listed as under:

[25-08-2011] I applied for a passport at Sai Arcade PSK.
[17-09-2011] I had police visiting my house, after I followed up at police commissioner’s office to send police verification to the police station. (Police did not ask for any witness etc, just Rs200)
[03-10-2011] Passport application has been granted and Police Verification Report has been submitted. You would receive an email/sms once the passport is dispatched.
[14-10-2011] I have received my passport today (Rs 50 to the postman) and the status is:

Police has completed verification process on 14/10/2011. Your passport will be dispatched after Clear Police Verification Report is received at Regional Passport Office. You would receive an email/sms once the passport is dispatched.

So don’t wait for the any email / sms. You should get it in about 15-20 days after police verification report is submitted.

After waiting for more than 5 months and following at commissioner office my wife’s passport application has come to our local police station. Now comes the big problem. In our application we have mentioned we are staying at present address from april 2010. Now i realized in bank statement they have mentioned it may 2010. Now these police want us to correct this from passport office. Please advice whom we have to meet at passport office and what will the procedure for this. Please try to login using only using only Internet Explorer, as I noticed that Chrome etc don’t work for this.
With effect from 17th September 2011, Normal and Tatkaal appointments as applicable will be released at 6 PM instead of 8 AM, No walk-in applicants will, therefore, be allowed except in emergency cases
You should login at around 18.00 hours (6 pm) as they open the online booking at 18.00 hours Sunday to Thursday (as they do not work on Sat/Sunday, they do not open for booking on Friday and Saturday)
Please take a print out of the Bar-coded, online submitted form receipt without fail and photocopies of all documents (should be minimum 1 year old from date of issue) like
1. Online submission form receipt with Bar Code etc, Address proof (DL, Ration Card, Aadhar Card, Voter Card)
2. ID Proof (PAN Card, Authenticated Bank Statement-with Bank Seal, and sign with your account details and branch details clearly shown-Minimum 1 year statement)
3. Educational Certificates
4. Annexure E if you want a modification in your name, like small correction in spelling etc. (I will upload this format separately also available in the passport booklet for Rs. 10/)
5. Please avoid touts and others, the process is very easy and user friendly, Help Anna Hazare to fight corruption, do not entertain touts and others, thanks for supporting Anna
5a. After the initial screening you will be sent in to the ‘A’ counters where your # will be called, if it takes an inordinately long time please ask the staff as you may have missed it when it was called, and they will put it up once again.
5b. After the ‘A’ counters you will be passed on to the ‘B’ counters where again your number will be called and after further screening and verification/scanning of all original documents along with photo capture and finger printing/biometrics etc you will be sent to ‘C’ counters
5c. After the final approval in the ‘C’ counters you will need to collect the acknowledgement from the exit counter without fail. This is mandatory no matter at what stage you leave the PSK (sometimes you may have to leave it at A, or B stage to get more documents, however, you need not book an appointment to come back once again on the same day or on another day)
5d. They say that you will get the Passport in 15 days to 30 days by speed post/courier. I will update this post further at a later date.
6. Please upload your helpful suggestions and experience in all Govt offices to help other new applicants, this is our way of giving back to society.
7. My experience with the staff at PSK-Lal bagh road was very pleasant and though I spent the better part of the day for each of our applications along with my wife and two children I must say that the Government employees and the TCS staff and also the Security personnel were all very helpful and friendly and I congratulate the trainers and the staff who have worked tirelessly to provide this type of impeccable service when the demand is so high. The systems in place are excellent and on par with international standards.

I need 2 apply for tatkal in a PSK for a re-issue of Passport.But the site shows I need one of the 15 doc listed,the guys in call center cant tell it too.here I find ppl talkin abt 3 proofs or annexture I for tatkal.
I have only a company letter showing my present address proof.
Do I need any other proof as well for my present address like Annexture I.
I can at max try 2 get a bank statement

for tatkaal 1. u cant get it if your old passport was issued outside India, it will be only under normal 2. there is a list on the website – 3 out of 15 documents need to be provided and one of those should be from (a) to (i) http://www.passportindia.gov.in/AppOnlineProject/online/tatkaal
3. If you cant get any one from (a) to (i) you need to go through the Annexure F, Annexure I route. The Annexure F is got from an specific cadre of Govt officers – IAS, IPS etc.
4. You will also need the bank statement. 1 year running statement from the branch not pdf statement printed as it has to be signed by the bank officer and be in original.
I did the tatkaal on 14th sept and got the passport in hand on 17th sept

Point 1) is not correct you can apply and get the re-issue in tatkal even if your passport was issued outside India. I have just done it last monday, my pp was issued in SFO expired in 2009 and applied in tatkal and they have granted it.

Yes, it is better to carry the bank stmt for the entire year-that is from today to one year back, not one year old statement, if the statement is one you have received from the bank vide email attachment it should normally contain your address, bank Logo, your account # and so on and that should be acceptable once you self attest it, but who knows? Indian Government employees can be a law unto themselves right? I would suggest that you also carry your Company letter showing your name, address as on their records (should be same), any other documents like Voter Card etc which you may have, I really dont’ know whether they will accept your rental agreement etc. but give it a try.
In the good old days they used to issue a residence certificate from the Taluk office near Cauvery Bhawan, don’t know whether they still do that but at this point you should carry all the initial stuff mentioned above and give it a try. There is nothing like a personal visit and getting it from the Horse’s mouth as each persons circumstances could be vastly different and how those guys (gals’) over there interpret it could be quite different. Anyway, if they ask you to get something notarized ask for a Format as whatever you get done may not be acceptable to them. All this is available in the Rs. 10/- booklet available for sale over there, but of course, who has the time to pour thru all that in this modern age, right?

You need minimum of the following documents:
1. 1 year running bank statement for Address Proof
2. 10th Std Marks card for Age proof
For tatkal you need 3 proofs as mentioned in website along with a undertaking letter from a gazetted officer. List of authorised officials is given on passport website.

You now need to apply for a resiisue of passport to remove the ECR stamp. Normal application will take around 20 days for reissue with police verification. If you apply for tatkal it will take a week.

I wanted to apply for a reissue of passport as my pages had elapsed. I took the appointment after entering all the detail in the website. I went to passport seva kendra marthalli ring road and was shocked since i am married they need a marriage certificate again i came back and got an appointment on wednesday, since the appointment for tuesday was full. Then I went to passport seva kendra again and i told the front desk person that it is not mentioned in website and it is not a pre-requisite. Then he checked all the documents and asked me to wait to verify online and will give a token # and file. Literally 30 minutes I had to wait.Then he issued a token # and file. I went inside and was sitted for 10 minutes after that my token # was called to Counter A, I finished all the formalities and it took 10 mins and back and waited for my turn to Counter B litterly for 1 hour after that appointment to Counter B the guy in counter B’s job is to just check the docs and sign it which is really not required in process and I dont know why they are sitting. After that again 1 hour waited to go to Counter C an old man was seated and for him one assistant to help him.. Totally nearly it took 3 hours to come out of passport for 15 mins work. The funny thing is at the last exit they will ask for Efficiency feedback. The TCS folks are they not aware of how efficiency is calculated I have provided all the data, If they feel they are efficient and wish to improve efficiency, firstly they should know where they stand.This all happened for an Tatkal Appointment, I am sure the Normal peoples might have to wait for 5 to 6 hours which is a waste of a day. Look forward if any improvment and action to improve the proces time. If not we all leave in India where anything can happen any time and no one i responsible for that.

1. do we have to fill the PCC and upload even if it is a case of passport renewal, but address change
2. under normal process (not tatkal) what is the turnaround time as per the passport office (any idea)
3. As I don’t have the 3 of 15 documents (i.e 1 from a to i) , I am constrained to go via normal. Can I request for tatkal at the counter
4. For address proof I have bank statement printout from the bank with sign and seal fo the bank (ICICI) (not pdf print) – is that ok ?

1) You need not to fill any PCC. Even for renewal they will send your passport application to commissioner office from there it will dispatched to your local police station. You need to submit your address proof(icici statement) with other proofs at police station also.
2) It depends it may take only 30days or 90days also.
3) As you have mentioned you have printout statement from ICICI for past one year, that will be enough for your address proof. Carry our old passport and your Tenth marks card. No need of tatkal
4)answered at point 3.

Since last 3 months i m in hyderabad and before that i was in pune for 4 years. Now i want to apply for renewal of passport as it has expired. I cannot apply in hyderabad office as I am not in hyd for more than 1 year. Can somebody guide me on
1. How many times I will have to go to pune, If i apply in pune passport office through online
2. I do not have any address proof on my name, will my husband’s address proof will suffice
3. I have a bank statement (HDFC), will it suffice
4. Also my old passport is from ahmedabad and now i want to renew it from pune with name change after marriage, is that possible

This is how it went at PSK Bangalore.
1. My passport was issues from Ahmedabad
2. I went for re-issuance due to damage
3. I was asked for two address proof (because my passport is issued from different region) at one of the PSKs (Lalbagh PSK).
4. I went back with two address proofs to another PSK in Bangalore (Sai Arcade)
5. To my surprise, I was asked for only one address proof (that is 1 year statement of my HDFC bank account, with sign and seal)
6. Normal processing took 50 days to receive new passport.
I dont know how much idea about tatkal, but including bribe Tatkal will be very costly.
I think you should be all right with HDFC bank statement / your spouse’s address proof. You may need to produce marriage certificate / annexure D.

Try to consult agent at a court for annexure D, they charge Rs 100-200 and get it notarized.

If you are native of other places of Karnataka, it is very easy to get online appointment for Mangalore and Hubli..
I tried for appointment at Bangalore, and I got after continuous trying..
I got renewal of my passport in only 9 days !!!!.

There is no need to take appointment just ready your file and submitted it by walkin through0900-1400 in the passport office with your old passport.

I was so anxious after reading many stories on several blogs of passport getting delayed by 1 or 2 months…now I’m waiting for the police verification thingy to happen,
This blog has been of great help in preparing me for the application. I went to PSK, Belandur on 18th Aug for passport re-issue. Mine had expired after 10 yrs. But since I moved from Chennai after marriage, I had to prove address and name change post marriage. So, the documents I needed on that day were:
1. One year bank statement signed and sealed by the branch for address proof (mine was HDFC)
2. Marriage certificate
3. X Std certificate
4. Old passport
Of course, I took a whole bunch of docs including birth certificate, PAN card, and my hubby’s passport too! lol….but they weren’t needed.
The procedure at the PSK was very systematic and organized, although it took me at least 2.5 hours to go through the process. But, clean loos, tea/coffee machines, and seating space in A/C made the wait possible. Would suggest you carry some biscuits if you tend to get hungry (like me) or if you have a child.
Anyways, I’ve been tracking my status on the PSK portal since last wednesday…nothing seemed to be happening and suddenly last night (at around 10 pm!) i received an SMS saying my passport has been dispatched.
Received it through speed post at 12.30 pm today noon…am just hoping the police verification happens without any glitches. Can someone tell me if the police will come to my house to verify or should I go to the police station? How do I know which police station my verification is pending with? Help will be much appreciated.
P.S: I applied through Normal route.

Status Police Verification (PV) has been initiated and a PV request has been sent to Commissioner Office, District Bangalore . Your passport will be dispatched after Clear Police Verification Report is received at Regional Passport Office. You would receive an email/sms once the passport is dispatched.
Please advise. Whom we have to meet at commissioner office.

You have to collect that in person. The passport will be at Post office for about a week and then sent back to Regional Passport Office where it was granted. You should go there and collect it.

I need an additional booklet so applied online. Now they say the system has become like the old Railway Tatkal system. You have to login at 8:00 am every day and then they will open slots only for the next day. You keep applying and if you are lucky you can get the appointment for the next day. If not keep trying. I am scared now. I need to get an immediate new booklet and if this is the process god save me. I called on their helpline and they said the same thing. Is this true? is there no better way to submitt application like I choose a date even if it is 15 days later and then go at that time….why is passport application such a painful process

well take first page and last two pages of passport copy along with originals, 10th macks card, if you are married marriage certificate or annexure d ( same can be downloaded through website- passportindia.gov.in )for address proof take 1 year bank statement with seal and signature of branch manager + one more additional proof in your name.
