Playing games like farmville on facebook is an addiction to many of us. I was surprised to see so many of you getting grossly involved in playing the game that promotes the mankind’s oldest known profession of farming! Over a period of time, someone might lose interest in playing that virtual farming game, but the question is ‘would you give up that easily if those plants were real?’. Believe me it is not that easy. More over, you will love to grow the real plants by nurturing them day after day. The kind of joy you feel when that plant blooms is just beyond your imagination. Don’t believe in what I am saying? Try growing a small garden at your home and then come back and share your experience. I have been growing a number of different kind of plants over the years. This time here is the result… you see it yourself π
Just a few highlights on these photos:
- Number of Tomatoes in a given bunch exceeded my expectation! Look at those natural colors…
- For the first time started growing Brinjals (egg plant) inΒ bags instead of pots! Each brinjal is turning out to be bigger than the size of a fist π The photos included above doesn’t have the brinjals, will post a different post on those plants with fully grown brinjals.
- Also, I have posted a croton plant with flowers! I had posted the same plant in the budding stage and had asked you folks to name it… remember?
- The Queen of Night flowers have bloomed 4 times this year so far as against once a year! I have tried to capture close up view of those flowers this time.
- Sevantige plants have a huge number of budding flowers. I will click them when they bloom to the fullest and post here again. I really don’t know what they are called in English, appreciate if anyone can share that info.

Hello Mohan,
We sowed some brinjal seeds in Aug 09 which we purchased from the market. Until now (Mar 10) I have seen at least 50 flowers bloom but only one of them has turned into a brinjal. Strangely, some flowers have only stamen and no stigma and even if there is a stigma the stamen is much below preventing any kind of pollination. What is wrong? I would be grateful if you can share from you experience.
Mohan says
Hi Franky, after reading your problem statement, bad seeds seem to be the root cause. Always buy seeds from a known seeds company sold at a recognized shop. I am using the seeds that I procure from one of the brinjal every season for the next.

The tomatoes have all the colors from apple red to pale green. Too good Mohan! What fertilizers do you use? I have tried growing tomatoes before, but could never produce such colorful ones. Good job sir! Would you mind sharing some of the tips with us please?
Mohan says
I use organic fertilizers like cow dung composted with soil. Yes, it is available in the plant nurseries. No Chemicals either in the form of fertilizers or pesticides π This is organic kind of farming stuff. Sure, I will share more tips on a separate article sometime soon!

Hey Shruti, thanks! it is not the effort of a day or two… Like I have mentioned, spending time on growing plants since my childhood. By then we had lot of space infront of our house, but now.. it is just limited to few of them on the roof top. Nevertheless the enthusiasm to grow them constantly keeps me busy on weekends π
Sure, my pleasure to help you out.. feel free to get in touch whenever you need help! yes.. farmville is an addiction till you reach some 30+ levels after that it becomes boring. See my other post on farmville if you are planning to start playing it.
