Hi Mohan,
Your part-1 and part-2 are really very very interesting. I stay in B’lore and i want to learn, read and write Kannada fluently. Your articles are very helpful.
Please publish some common communication words/sentences which will be very useful while communicate with shopkeeper, bus driver, auto driver, during bank interview, talk with friends, and other such common communication.
Once again thanks for providing nice articles.

Kudos Mohan!
These are useful articles. I especially like the interaction you have with your readers and the fact that you take the time to answer each question. You are doing what few of us are equipped to do and most of us pretend we don’t have time to do. Good job!
In my search for resources to teach my son Kannada (outside India) I came across a few more links that I hope you & your readers may benefit from…
1. I think Univ of Penn. [+] offers Kannada as one of the courses
2. Another useful resource [+] if you are looking to practice the language you are learning – with native speakers
3. Lots more resources available … google search phrase “learn Kannada”.

@hasiru5
That is nice to know. Well, it depends on the context. You are right for YES. But ‘Illa’ means ‘it is not present’
hasiru5 says
i learnt a few words of kannada. isn’t YES supposed to be ‘howdu’ and NO – ‘ illa’?
