‘God forbid’ = ಅಪ್ಪಿತಪ್ಪಿ, ಅಕಸ್ಮಾತ್ => By mistake, By chance.
I suppose, In Kannada, the phrases like God willing, God forbid, Bhagwan na kare, Bhagawan ke liye, etc., are seldom/never used.
A few Kannada phrases which use ‘God’ are ದೇವರ ಆಣೆ (I swear on God), ಅಯ್ಯೋ, ದೇವರೇ! (O, God!), ದೇವರ ದಯೆ (Bhagawan ki kripa)etc.,.
when somone is conveying sentences which use negative connotation, one might begin with these phrases like, ಹೀಗ್’ಆಗೋದ್ ಬೇಡ, ( let this not happen,) OR ಹೀಗ್’ಆಗಲಿ ಅಂತಲ್ಲ, (I don’t intend as such,)
Najmul says
What is the Kannada equivalent for “God forbid” For example, “God forbid, should you lose your job, what would happen?” In Hindi, it is called “Bhagwan na kare”.
For “Let him come” is “Avanu barli” correct?

Regarding the difference between [verb & [verb+ಕೊಣ್ಡು] forms:
Now,
ನೋಡು = nODu => to see; to look;
ನೋಡ್’ಕೊಂಡು = nOD’koMDu => to watch; to watch out (for yourself);
Example1: when a person says to you, ನೋಡ್’ಕೊಂಡ್ ಹೋಗ್’ಬೇಕು. He means, “you should watch for lurking dangerous out on the road and go [safely].
Example2: ನೀನು ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನ ನೋಡ್’ಕೊಣ್’ಬೇಕು you need to take care of(watch) the children.
Example3: ವಿನೋದ್ ಕೆಲಸ ಹುಡುಕ್ದ means “Mr.Vinod looked for a job. [might be for his sister or for his friend…]
Example4: ವಿನೋದ್ ಕೆಲಸ ಹುಡುಕ್ಕೊಂಡ means, “Mr.Vinod looked for a job and found one [for himself]
Only few verbs can take this [verb+konDu] forms. refer any good grammar books or learn it from your kannada speaking friends.
I Suppose, you speak Hindi. Hindi has also got such forms…
for example,
(Hindi)dekh; dekh’liya [Example: dekh’li tumhaari yaari] => (Kannada) nOD’ko [Example: nin’du nI nOD’ko [mind your own business]]
(Hindi)kar; kar’liya [Example: maine shaadi kar’li] => (Kannada) mAD’ko [Example: naan maduve mAD’koNDe [I got married]]
(Hindi)paa; paa’liya [Example: sukoon paa’liya] => (Kannada) paD’ko [Example: avan dIkShe paD’koNDa [He took sanyaas]
Whichever Hindi verbs take this [verb+liya] forms the corresponding equivalent kannada verbs would definitely take [verb+kondu] forms.
Now, regarding your question… can “baa” & “hOgu” can take the [verb+konDu] forms or not?
(Kannada) baa => (Hindi)aao
(Kannada) hOgu => (Hindi) jaavo;
these two verbs in Hindi i.e, aao & jaavo cannot take [verb+liya] forms. Similarly Kannada verbs i.e., baa & hOgu cannot take [verb+konDu] forms
There are no such forms as “aaliya” & “jaaliya” in Hindi language as well as “band’konDu” & “hOg’konDu” in kannada language.
I hope this clears your doubt.

When somebody behaves in a manner we don’t like, we say, in Hindi, “Aap aisa karenge to kaise chalega?” or in Indian English, we say “If you do like this, then how?” How do you say this in Kannada?
