My current domain & webspace is hosted on dot5hosting services. They are pretty good all these days until my account got transitioned to a new v3 platform. Earlier, my account was on vDeck v1.0. I had a real bad transition experience to new platform. I use my site mainly for blogging and ‘WordPress‘ is the blogging solution product. All these days, I was using WordPress v2.0.2 without any issues. Since dot5hosting was migrating me to a new platform, thought of upgrading wordpress to v2.3.2. To my bad, I had too many issues with vDeck v3.0 and then a hard time migrating to new version of WordPress. In the process of migration, my previous posts db got corrupted and I was able to backup only the posts. Because of this I lost all the visitor comments. I am glad that WordPress v2.3.2 supports xml format to backup db as well as to restore it.
Now I am taking the backup of my data on a weekly basis into a local disk than to rely on dot5hosting backup. Every now and then I get to hear about the server downtime from my friends. Seriously considering to move to a new hosting service provider. I will give one more chance & evaluate the performance of dot5hosting for a couple more months before moving away. Hope they get better and things get pretty stable on the new platform.

Folks, I am done.. the service by Dot5Hosting is worst than ever and I am soon gonna end with them. Please don’t go for Dot5Hosting. I have been continuously getting ‘Error in connecting to Database’ most of the time. Their tech support is incapable of solving it and their billing support tells all their internal tools are down and hence they can’t service their customers. What a pity. This is the END. I had enough.

Vdeck 3.0 will be the death of Dot5 hosting. I have 3 accounts with them and cant get in touch with them about any of them. They were fine before Vdeck 3.0, at least usable then, but now its not good at all. Im hunting their replacement now!

dot5hosting was my bigest mistake ever says
I bought a hosting in dot5hosting, I got a domain as well, they offer an extravagant lot
of space and price seems cheap but I set up menalto’s gallery2 and then I made a copy of
this just in case and I got a sign that says that I exceed the quantity of files uploading
to my account, so they offer you a huge amount of space but they limit the quantity of
files therefore without notice to me they erased all my e mails to fit it.
I also bought another domain at the beggining, which is going to expire and I want to
renew it, but when I go to the panel to administrate the domains I get a internal server
error, I comunicate with them via write support I call them they make me wait for over an
hour someone answered and then put me on hold for another hour and finally they desconect
me, the next day I tried again and I waste over 4 hours for nothing they just put me on
hold forever, they really stink. The chat option is another waste of time before I have to
wait about 40 m. to start to chat with someone beside the fact that they don’t solve
anything. Now when the chat windows open up you only have the option to send a message and
when you send it the small windows automatically closes and you never get in touch with
them and you never get an answer. I regret having a deal with them.
