Apple has announced the launch of new iPod shuffle today. To my surprise, this product is launched in India and US without any time lag. Apple site quotes “The world’s smallest music player also happens to be the world’s first talking one. Two things that make the iPod shuffle one amazing device.” Well, they are talking about the new feature called ‘VoiceOver’ – Assume you’re listening to a song and want to know the title or the artist. With the press of a button, VoiceOver tells you as the music dips down. It even announces the names of your playlists. And when your battery needs charging, VoiceOver tells you that too. It doesn’t stop there, it supports a bunch of international languages as well As always apple rocks with its innovation.
It may be surprising that I have been writing about Apple related stories in my blog offlate. Well, the fact is that I am getting more and more addicted to the range of products this organization is announcing. Coming back to iPod shuffle, this is the smallest of iPod product range. It measure only 45.2 x 17.5 x 7.8 mm in dimension. If you are not able to imagine how small it is, see the image (Both the images courtesy – Apple Inc). It weighs just under 11 grams! It is only a matter of searching if you misplace it. It is available in two standard colors, black and silver.
The best part of this iPod shuffle is that, it can store audio files upto 4GB. This is a lot for its size and can play for 10hrs once it is fully charged. iPod shuffle requires a Mac with a USB 2.0 port, Mac OS X v10.4.11 or later and iTunes 8.1 or later; or a Windows PC with a USB 2.0 port and Windows Vista, Windows XP Home or Professional (Service Pack 3) or later and iTunes 8.1
iPod Shuffle costs $79 in US and £59 in UK. The third generation 4GB iPod shuffle will be available within 4 weeks in India for a maximum retail price of Rs. 4,900 through Apple Authorised Resellers. For more information, visit Apple’s web site. Can’t wait for yet another smallest wonder by Apple!

@Sivaji Ganganathan
Well, Apple has always produced quality products and all these are not generic in architecture compared to similar products in the market. So, obviously they are always priced a bit high.

I think it is over priced as always. I personally don’t have any apple product either. They should consider the price factor when releasing them to Indian market.
