I have a lot of things in mind to write but not finding enough time. Most of you would have already noticed that I am not being very regular on this blog since the beginning of February. Getting very busy at work offlate and hence not able to spend time on blog to write new posts. So, I decided to write a small post with a set of quick updates. Here it goes…
1. First of all, here is a bit of bad news for you folks. Formula One season for 2010 is all set to begin on March 12 with 19 races scheduled this year. Unlike last year, I wouldn’t be commissioning a Fantasy F1 game for my blog readers. Last year we had a gala time playing ‘Fantasy Formula One’ throughout the previous F1 season. This year Yahoo! has decided to put a hiatus on the F1 fantasy game on its sports portal and thus warrants a situation where in we would miss some fun playing and knowing the game of F1 better. Stay tuned, Yahoo! has promised to come Bigger and Better for the next season. In the mean while, if I come across any other F1 Fantasy gaming site which is as good as Yahoo!, I shall write about it and let us all participate by playing the game.
2. All the foodies out here would love this blog more in the coming days. My good old friend Disha will be authoring some exotic recipes on this blog going forward. Get ready to experiment yourself with all those recipes. Glad to have her here on this blog… welcome Disha!
3. Currently I am playing around with the performance of my blog since a week, whenever I get time. Not sure how many of you have noticed the blog’s performance has improved by atleast 3.5 times now compared to a month back! I will share all the secrets once I reach the target numbers I have in mind π I am sure, most you folks don’t want to miss out on that!
4. I wanted to write a post on this year Union Budget. Given the kind of hype media has created on this budget via both the print and visual modes, decided not to write a post on that topic. Though the budget looks juicy to individual tax payers, in reality it doesn’t give you more money to merry. New tax slabs will only be beneficial to large income groups to some extent. Money that is being saved in the form of tax is being taken away by increasing the fuel prices and the duty on petroleum products, etc., So, everything will go up. Considering the inflation numbers, this tax benefit is of not much help given the price rises which have refused to come down for almost a year now.
Leaving it aside, what is your thought on sales tax levied by central and state governments? At least for us (the salaried class people), the money comes to hand after income tax deductions at source. With the already taxed money, you go out in market to buy products and you are mandated to pay tax on those too… Why are we paying double tax? have you ever thought about it? Don’t be surprised if you get to know that you are paying back about 40-45% of your hard earned money back to government through various forms of tax!
On this blog, you can read about a couple of the highlighted points from the Budget regarding New Symbol for Indian Rupee and Direct Tax Code to be implemented from 2011 onwards. Heading out of Bangalore tomorrow for a day trip and I promise to get more interesting photos upon my return. I will keep you folks guessing about the venue until I return back π

Recipes…wow I hav lately been bitten by the cooking ka keeda. Wud see if I can try some of ur recipes too.
Budget or no budget, inflation continues. Now fuel too is costly. It’s still not much difficult for us. But for poor people, someone like my maid who earns not more than 3k, I just imagine how she makes ends meet.
Mohan says
Very true Aditya, the more I think about the price rise, that much more I curse our system. But that is the reality!
Swaram says

This budget is like feeding the common man with a carrot (personal taxes) and hitting at the back (indirect taxes on account of raise in fuel prices).
Mohan says
Very well summarized π … still laughing out to destress myself!

R Saraswathan says
It is a pity that we have to bear the brunt of deficit by paying additional taxes for the faulty implementation of the tax laws. As you rightly said, the meager additional income through wider slab is taken away by the increased prices on commodities. Looking forward to some juicy details, upon your return, with pictures!!
Mohan says
Well, the new Direct Tax Code is just round the corner! I believe that will bring in a lot of cheer for individual tax payers. There are few things which aren’t in our control. It is waste of thinking about such things π
Just back this morning.. will post the photos soon π
Kartikay says
Its sad that DTC and GST have both been postponed to the next-to-next financial year. And the Government is still picking some products to exempt from excise duty: ugh! Why cant we take that big step?
Mohan says
Kartikay, initial plan was to introduce DTC for 2011-12 FY. Big step needs massive time for our civic bodies… No?
