The A-Star is Maruti Suzuki’s new Alto variant for European market with the name ‘Pixo’. The same car is all set to sell alongside the Maruti Alto in Indian market. A-Star is expected have a 1000cc engine, 37 bhp and it is expected to be priced around Rs 4 lakhs (ex-showroom). This car will be Maruti’s newest addition in the A2 segment joining other models like WagonR and Zen Estilo. It has been reviewed that an all new one litre aluminium engine promises to be smoother and more efficient than the current range of Maruti engines. The A-Star was exhibited in Auto expo 2008 at New Delhi, most of our attention was caught towards Tata’s Nano in that event during January 2008. Now it’s the time for Maruti to launch A-Star to market in mid November as per Maruti Suzuki’s website pressroom information. UPDATE: As the car has been launched, more detailed info with actual car photos are available here
Also, it has been reviewd that A-Star will be roomier than the current Alto and will offer better cabin comfort as well. The A-Star will be manufactured in India and sold across Europe, which means that you can expect it to offer relatively good levels of build quality and materials as well. As usual, this car too will be available in three variants. This means a good competition among the premium A2 segment with rival car models like Hyundai i10, Tata Indigo CS etc., This means another entry into huge hatchback cars segment into the Indian market. If you are an avid fan of Maruti, wait for a couple of weeks more to test drive the car!

Maruti A Star is a best mileage car in India. Now it is also proven in Australia. Suzuki Alto[MARUTI A STAR] is judged the least expensive car to own and operate in the annual survey conducted by NRMA Motoring & Services of Australia. This clearly proves that even in international market, A Star is the best small car! We get 19 kmpl and satisfactory service back up from Maruti!!

Congratulations! Hmm, my understanding was that Maruti will sell only a small percentage of A-Star models in India as this car is aimed at exporting. Nice to hear that Maruti A-Star would be delivered in just 6 weeks after booking.
