Caution : This post is nothing but a rant on various things since morning. I know it is just 8:40am.. but still, here it goes!
1. Traffic light is in its glorious RED. I am on my bike in the middle of a moderate traffic around me, mostly cars. The flashy LED lights display a count down from 135 seconds. People have no thought of switching off their vehicle engines. They are courteous enough to let the engine ON and burn all that non-renewable energy for nothing!! Oh wait… they are ofcourse contributing to the great cause of polluting the air with the vehicle smoke.
This just made me recall an ad released by government of India sometime back on saving fuel. How true!! Damn… how can we all be so ignorant?
2. I reach office entrance. There is a security post where in the folks check for badges and scan the vehicles before letting them go inside. It took some time to search and get my id card from the backpack. Our guard bhai is so confident on me… he says in the mean while “Sir, aap jaayiye. Mujhe maloom hai aasp Yahoo! mein kaam karte hai”. He must have read the wording on my t-shirt. Still why do you want to let someone go without thoroughly checking? Is this the kind of security we need? I will write another post sometime soon on our security folks… that will throw up multitude dimensions about the flaws in our security systems.
3. Four years back on this day, our sweet home was inaugurated. It seems like the time is flying!!! I will be busy till Dec 20th this year starting now. A number of project releases, my 3rd semester final exams and a lot more. So, I am giving an option to my readers to write guest posts!!! Have to agree with the security issues, I am not a techie and I had to go to wipro with my cousin to meet someone the other day. The person had told me to get a valid ID proof to get past the security. When the concerned person was issuing visitors pass, she asked for ID proof, I said I have mine and my cousin is not carrying, She just nodded and let us go ahead. Imagine! A terrorist can just get past using a known person as a shield. So much for high security!

Definitely, I do agree with you when it comes to being ignorant towards switching engines off of our vehicles at the traffic lights and also the lapses in security system. Things can only change when we change by ourselves. We do watch lot of things, we witness lots of things but we just donot want to implement them. Bring a change in ourselves then automatically things are driven in a right way. I appreciate your efforts in highlighting these day-to-day things which can have a greater impact on us. Good work.

Mohan, I totally agree with you on fuel wastage. It just takes couple of seconds to start the vehicle and saves fuel for next generation.
The security issue is really scary one, with things happening around how can our security people are so lathargic! It makes me scared.

I really feel bd abt the security system too 🙁 When we hd gone to see the Ganapathi Pandal here, a very famous one, ppl were finding ways to escape from the long security queue and enter from other sides. When will we realize the importance 🙁 Its for our own gud .. u will save mins here, but who knows what me mite lose in the long run 🙁

i agree with the traffic etiquette’s of the ‘janta’ in bangalore. people here don’t realize how they drive or care about anyone else on the road. coming to the conservation of fuel, that is related to the above, as everyone is in a great rush and feel that if they stop the engines they will be late… 🙂
regarding the security, it is we people who are to blame for it. the security you are talking about is at the main gate, there the people manning the post are more concerned about not letting unauthorized people get in. if they start checking each and everyone, you can guess what a mess it will be. and the guard did his duty, he recognized you and made sure that the traffic was not held up. for the checking of people, the egl security gives it to the respective companies to make sure that they do not have unauthorized people parking vehicles in the company designated parking lots. in that regard, our building guards do a great job and i really appreciate the same… except for a few shameful incidents, when the employee tries to bully them into letting them in, when they do not have the ID card with them.

Ah.. alas there are few things we agree upon! Somehow, I am still not convinced with security here. Piling up of traffic behind is a different story altogether. I strongly feel we should compromise on security citing the building up traffic as a reason.

Ok.. I knw one thing.. if I off my car in the traffic n when start on green signal.. for the seconds the car takes to start, ppl will not leave me… they will just honk n honk.. I feel like getting out n hitting them 🙁 but anyways.. I guess it will take time for the ppl to grow up..
For the security, I guess u shud raise the alarm. Because this doesnt happen in our office no matter who u r… We hv discussed this thing couple of times.. that the security is good 🙂

Vineeta, I would choose to act deaf instead of keeping the engine in run mode. Yeah, we have a common entrance for many companies around. Still the security bothers me a lot!! As mentioned above in previous comment MS in SW 🙂

Yeah.. it is a bit difficult. However, the classes would end by dec 20th and 4th sem is for project… so I will get my weekends back!
