It has been a week since my last post and couldn’t resist from posting this update. I am in the middle of a short vacation, left Bangalore on Sunday morning. Here is a snapshot of all the happenings at my end:
- Drove through heavy rain on national highway # 4 for the first time!
- Took the pedestrian path covering 3550 steps spread over 9 kms to get to the Tirumala hilltop of lord Venkateshwara from Tirupati.
- It was a good test for my physical fitness :). Thanks to my regular work outs… it wasn’t that difficult.
- Had the fastest Darshan of the God without having to spend too much of time in Queues!
- Now back in the village where I was born and enjoying the vacation.
- Exploring the options to extend my ‘Grand New Start‘! Hope to complete phase 1 of this new initiative by this weekend.
- Plucked few groundnut plants and extracted the raw groundnuts! Of course.. enjoyed eating them out too π
- Enjoying the fresh oxygen, though sweating out a lot in the fields.
More details to follow as and when time permits. Reliance Netconnect (Broadband+) is helping me out to stay connected!

Dear Dr Sarasa, thanks for your encouraging comments. There are many good hotels in downtown Tirupati. To name a few are – Vishnupriya, Bhimas, Sindhuri, Ramee, Vihas.
Geetha says
Good morning Sir,
Please let me know, whether the pedestrians are allowed to walk to the Tirumala temple during night i.e., from 9.00 pm onwards, because we are going to tirupati nex month second week from Bangalore through train at 1.20pm and will reach Tirupathi at around 8pm and we intend to have darshan by walk in the night itself. I was told that there is no darshan during night, however, I hope we will be allowed to walk atleast and have darshan in the next day. Will you please reply.
Mohan says
Hi Geetha, I have written a separate article on taking pedestrian path to reach tirumala. Go through that article. I am sure that will help you to plan better.
Smitha says
You walked all the way up! Wow! That must be some trek – I want to do that – sometime – if I ever get that fit π
Mohan says
This is pretty easy kind of trek compared to my other ones :). My two little nephews of age 8 & 5yrs were able to walk with ease… believe me, it wouldn’t be tough for you… just that it needs a bit of positive thinking to get through!
