Kyra is the new restaurant that has come up in place of India Gate near Indira Nagar in Bangalore. This restaurant is right next to airport road flyover, above Adidas showroom. Kyra has two unique spaces in the same premises – The Kyra Power Dining restaurant and Kyra Theater, former in the second floor for dining alone while 3rd floor is for theater performances along with dining. We were a group of 11 people and Kyra was suggested by a junior most colleague Siddharth
. I never heard of this name before and decided to try out buffet lunch on a friday at this restaurant.
To start with, they have valet parking and no need to worry about your car parking. After confirming our reservation at the reception at 1pm, we were guided towards a table which is already kept ready for us. At first look, the place looked good with neat interiors. Tables were neatly arranged in anticipation of already reserved customers. All the tables were simple yet neat with orchids flower vases. The captain was very attentive and so were rest of the service folks. Started with veg and non veg soups, a couple of us liked the soup and the stewards didn’t hesitate to serve second round of soup! In the mean time, they started serving starters. They had a real good collection for both veggies and non veggies. This is the first ever restaurant where in veggies really enjoyed the starters in line with the kind of variety non veggies were enjoying. If I am not wrong, there were a minimum of 8+ starter varieties include unlimited succulent pieces of chicken and mutton variants, tender paneer, special roasted gobi etc.,
Main course platter included arrays of biryanis and other special sea food items. Most of the rice items were cooked with Basmati rice and the quality was beyond our expectations. Food was excellent from the Chicken tikka to the Paneer tikka and Mushrooms for vegetarians. Also, there was a special item made of paneer with sweet baby corn! Non veg included curries of mutton, fish. Captain himself served us with rotis on table. The food was really yummy and I enjoyed savoring so many varieties. Apart from that the way they had kept the food in vessels is certainly as unique as their name ‘Kyra’… See the photos. Though I had curiosity about the restaurant name, I forgot to ask about that!
The dessert platter too had so many varieties, I couldn’t resist from tasting all of them! Starting from fruit salad made of papaya and pears, they had Mango phirni, ice cream, kheer, cakes, jamoons etc., We certainly had a great dining experience. The cost per head for buffet lunch was Rs 330 per head inclusive of 12.5% VAT and 10% service charges. Since the service charge is already included in the bill, it is upto you to decide on whether to tip again or not. I didn’t like the idea of including service charges into the bill though. It should be left to the people to decide. With the kind of food and service, I wouldn’t mind going there again for dinner probably.
All I could wish is they maintain the same kind of food quality standards with current good ambience. Though there are multiple restaurants around this like Barbeque Nation, Indijoe, Nandini, Mainland China etc., I am sure, they can beat everyone of them with their quality if they continue the same kind of service. My rating 4.5/5 for buffet lunch
. Some of the interior view photos shown above were provided by Kyra staff.

I really liked the food and wide variety of starters! But i wanted to complain about the placement of the bouffet table – they should have segregated it further from the tables nearby! Im sure it disturbed those poor folks!
Yup! I second that. In the quest of accommodate more people on friday rush, they seem to be compromising on dining experience for some of those unfortunate people. May be its time to rework the things around and set up appropriately to comfort everyone. That was a good catch Kartikay

Dear Mr. Mohan
First allow me to introduce myself : my name is Dipali Sikand and I and my husbad Rajeev, own Kyra. It was such a pleasure to read your review, gives our team the much needed encouragement to go on in our quest of creatng a winnin experience for our guests ! Thank you !
Kyra : Kyra has many meanings : in Persian it means “flame”, in Greek besies meaning the Lord it also means the Sun. Our 2 children are Aditya ( Sun ) and Diya (flame ) and Kyra was just the ideal nam, allowing us to dedicate our new baby to the 2 who have given us the space,by being good kids, to spend enormous amount of time and energy, creating Kyra the restaurant and Kyra the Theatre.
We are launching a new festival shortly : ( 17th September ) that will take our guests each evening through a mystical journey of food from 7 counties : North West, Turkey, Iran right pto Morocco. I would love to have you come and dine with us and give your reviews !
Besides, Sukesh , our Chef, has a unnique experience which I urge every gourmet lover to definitely go through > Being India’s rare Michilin Chef, dining on his Chefs table is a unique experience. Try over 50 different kinds of signature food paired with the perfect wine / drinks…. Available on prior reservations for a table of 8, this is just Rs. 1500++ per person but I assure you , you would never have had a dinner so fine.
Reservations can be made by calling 0804341999. I do look forward to seeing you at Kyra soon.
Thank you again and Best wishes
Dipali

Dear Mohan,

Nice to know we dont fit the stereo type restaurateur who doesn’t know how to blog or like to devour the net to read reviews !
In this world of dining, we find it very important to provide our guests an experience they will seldom forget and for us to do that, we must be right into the guests minds and reviews !
I look forward to having your other readers visit us and give us their candid feedback as well. !!

Hey Shruti, thanks for your comment
I am sure, you wouldn’t be disappointed!
That’s nice to see some having a cheer on their face upon my comment! You too have a great day.
I totally agree that your blog is one of the most famous one. Providing a altogether different insight for all the ‘usual’ happening things around us. The quick catch of the owner is just delighting. You might get some free theater passes soon (Even I got it when I didn’t do anything good to enhance their business).
About this blog entry, I must say you have given a very honest review. This blog is much more than ‘explore Bangalore’. I just loved the way you analyze the things and patiently documented them (alas…..finally reading something out of twiki after a long time).
Hey Siddharth, thanks for dropping by! Your suggestion to visit this place was indeed a great idea. We had a great time together for sure. Hope to hear from them about the free passes
Thanks for your encouraging comment and that makes me to come up with even more well thought articles. Keep visiting.

About the Festival : Feast on the Flavours of the Spice Route :
Many centuries ago, caravans laden with India’s choicest spices would scale snow-bound passes, cross choppy seas, make their painstaking way through the Middle-East and come to rest amongst the heady aromas in the streets of Morocco. Overlooking the hustling 100 feet Road of Indiranagar, The Kyra “ Flavours of the Spice Trail “ features cuisine of this spice trail that is lost to our generation, recreating magic from the kitchens of the Ottomans, Arabs, Tunisians and the Afghans.
From an assortment of artistic Middle Eastern Mezze, Moroccan Zalouk salads , Tunisian Batata Harissa and Chermoula prawns, from succulent Lahori lamb shank Nihari, Iranian chicken joojeh kebabs, Turkish Adana Kababs & Persian Pilaf from ,the spicy Syrian hot dip Muhammara to those with a sweet tooth, the celebrated Turkish Baklava pastry. This uber- irresistible spread is a feast on all senses.
Part of a chic two-venue concept including Kyra Theatre : most exciting theatre and dining destination, Kyra is noted for hosting numerous A-list events.
Priced at just Rs.450 ++ per person, Kyra’s Chef Sukesh has created the feast of the “Flavours of the Spice Trail “offering an unrivalled selection of dishes. A renowned chef, Chef Sukesh has trained under noted Michelin culinary experts, including several French master chefs.
“Our cuisine is one of the most popular in the world,” says Chef Sukesh. “Here at Kyra we have included a wide selection of delectable dishes into our new daily buffet for the enjoyment of Bangalore diners.”
Further he concludes “You don’t have to be a spice dealer with a caravan to partake of such divine delicacies. Simply come to the Kyra Restaurant. And let us seduce your taste buds with our treasures.”!

Hello Dipali,
After believing on a wonderful feedback on KYRA, I went to fullfill my desire of good gourmet.
Strange part, although satisfied with the food, I left the restaurant with an extremely bad notion and image.
You offered a valet parking, the service I also went for.
But to my surprise, when I reached home I found my car extremely damaged at the front bumper. You people are supposed to be the faces of the corporate dining — but is it what is expected?
Now the rest of the story .. I called up the manager MR. RAM who told that this thing can happen. We dont take the responsibility of the car. Does it mean its a kind of hypocrisy? You are offering a service but not owning it. Or do you think customers are there to suffer since they are not owners?
I am writing this with utter disappointment — not finding words to express my feelings.
Are you listening?
Hi Dipali,
In case u had dropped me any mail, could you plzz resend it as It might have gone to the spam with unknown reason.
Hi Arghya, I have resent the mail. Hope you got it now.
Hi Dipali,
I am really getting surprised to notice that none of you still bother to give a reply.
I am just clueless . Let me know whatever you have decided.
During Indibloggers meet , I found the price tag for a cup of tea was very much on a higher side! and I had to be content with a glass of water!
