Photos from Leh and Ladakh

February 1, 2010 in Nature, india, movie | 34 Comments

As promised before in one of the earlier posts on the occasion of republic day, here I am sharing all those exquisite photos from Leh & Ladakh regions. These photos have been sourced from my cousin who works with Indian Army. All these photos have been captured using a mobile phone camera! If you wish to see these pictures bigger, head over to flickr or see this slide show in full screen mode.

An ordinary civilian has no access to these regions. Even if you want to visit these places, the mother nature will not let you pollute the premises! Some interesting facts from these photos include the amount of snow that falls overnight is good enough to completely submerge the post tents. One of the daily task for these men is to remove the snow around and above tents periodically. The food and other supply reaches these posts only by means of a chopper. You can see few images of a chopper dropping the supplies via parachutes as it may not be possible to land all the time.

Also, I was surprised to see some of the solar products that were showcased on my blog sometime back being used in such extreme climate conditions too!

wow! wow! wow!
Nature at it’s pristine best. Life of a jawan must be so tough there, and we keep complaining about some silly things, sitting at our sheltered homes.
Awesome photos and thanks for sharing.
